I hear this term get tossed around a lot when folks describe their favorite gun, a gun they are selling, etc.

- Under an MOA for a rifle with 3 shots, 5 shots, 10 shots?

- 1 ragged hole for a handgun at 25 yards if the handgun is benched?

- Hitting the bullseye standing at 8yards?

I personally like to bench any of my guns and loads/ammo before i start shooting it with my skill level.  That way I know what it'll do.  I typically use 5 rounds with a rifle benched at 100 yards (and it's got to be .75 inches or less) or a handgun somewhat benched (my elbows on the table) at 25 yards (and it has to be 2 inches or less).

How do you all define it?

I'd say a tact driver is my wife kicking me under the table when I'm telling a good story.

I'd define tack driver literally. Push a thumbtack partially into a piece of wood and drive it in. Maybe 50 meters for .22 and 100 meters for everything else.

I've seen some BR-50 guys that I swear, could literally drive tacks with their 22's....from 50 yards too.....of course some are shooting rifles that cost several thousands of dollars. Oh...and scopes not much cheaper! Edited by Randall53

A tack driver, whether it be a firearm or a person is one that can place shots in a tight group and be in the center of the bull. Tight groups are okay when you are sighting in a scope, but when shooting for the prize they don’t mean squat if they aren’t in the center of the bull.

tack driver = 1 hole

tact driver = husband driving wife who's complaining about his driving.

I also mentioned on another post you should be able to shoot flies walking around on the target.

Well, if it wasn't dark and if I had a tack, I'd grab my calipers and measure a tack. I guess if your rifle, and you, can put consistent shots into a space no greater than the diameter of a tack - whatever it may be, 150 thousandths, 200, what have you - then I suppose that would be a tack-driver in the undisputible sense.

Kimber 82 G's and Savage MKII's are "tack" drivers right out of the box.

Just an example.

haha!  I fixed the title.  Thanks.  I kept calling it "tact driving or tact driver".  haha!  English is only my first language.  Pardon me.
