Caracal recall

Weren't there some reports of the slide breaking in half.  I would wager that may have something to do with the recall.

Yes, I just found this:

Looks like the pistols can have a catastrophic failure with the slide breaking in two. Not the first recall on Caracal handguns either it seems.

That's a shame, was waiting for these to be tested by the consumers before I thought about getting one.

Designed by the guy who designed the Glock and Steyr M1? Seemed to have some good potential.

Materials failure, maybe?

Ok, so the "F" I have, that has been through the recall, is good... man, what a shame.

Yeah, it's just the C series that is affected.  It's an interesting gun, but between the earlier recall (for things that could be fixed) and now this for the entire C line, I think it may be the death knell for Caracal.  I doubt their reputation can be salvaged. A shame really, I always like to see more options.

Well, my curiosity got the best of me, and I called. I wanted to know exactly what the issue was, and why only the C pistols were affected, and were they SURE the F ones were ok.

They said it was a heat treating issue during the C manufacturing process. There are NO similar issues with the F's. That's good to know...

Then they likely could "fix" it by replacing the entire slide.

"Someone's gotta go back and git a :poop: load of slides!"

(To paraphrase.)

Hehe betting the dimes would be a lot easier to get.

Ive been wanting a caracal, and the carbine they were coming out with looked pretty good. I think I will stick to my glocks.

There was a recall on some of the "F" models as well in the last year. Similar issues and some comments about safeties that could allow a fire when dropped.

After reading several very long discussions on different forums; I decided to send my F model back for a full refund. Took a while, but I did receive the refund.

Maybe they figured a complete recall means they get their guns back in their hands, a chance to fix them, and then resell them at a later date. Hopefully at a reduced price to court back wary customers.
