Thoughts and prayers needed

Please keep Hunney, our yellow lab, in your prayers she has a torn knee ligament.

The vet said it may heal with rest. If not she will need surgery.

I don't know how we will afford the surgery if it comes to that.

She is a rescue dog and is so sweet and gentle natured that is painful to watch her hop and limp around.

Sorry to hear that. My dogs are like my kids so I feel for you.

FWIW, the surgery really works well. I had my dog's knee done and the last 5 years of her life she was just as frisky as ever.

Sendin up the prayers myself... I am a dog lover myself.... Dogs are God's object lesson to us to demonstrate what unconditional love looks like.  They are the noblest of God's creatures...

Ok I am sending prayers for her to get well without the surgery but If it will get folks involved here on the site I will chip in the first $15.00 towards her surgery. If we have as many dog lovers he as I think we do and everyone gives something even just a few bucks we might be able to help cover most of the surgery cost. I mean she a Rescue Dog nd deserves nothing less then to be rescued...............jmho

Man, I can imagine what you're going through. My basset seems to hurt any one of his legs about twice a year. I always think the worst, but about a 5-7 worth of meds he's good to go. While I haven't looked into it, my sister swears by her pet health insurance. In her situations, it has been money well spent. Hunney and family will be in our thoughts.

Thanks guys. She is a special dog. When we got her she was full grown and only weighed 40 pounds.

Basically she was just skin and bones. I nursed her back to health over a long time.

Since she was so malnourished she is slightly more retarded than your average lab.

She just wants to be loved.

It is hard because I have been out of work and I want what's best but the surgery isn't cheap.

Some websites say to restrict activity for 6 to 8 weeks and slowly rehab it. Some say surgery right away is the way to go.

Not sure.

I have a friend in LA that is a vet I have e-mailed her for her opinion.

You know they really aren't just pets they are family. Dogs are truly one of God's better creations. Sorry I am rambling feel emotionally and mentally fried at the moment.

The funny thing is my other dog has been taking care of Hunney today. She is a pit/lab or pit/german shepard mix. She has been laying next to Hunney and guarding her today.

Thanks again guys

I am sorry to hear about this. I had to do the surgery on my Golden and know many others that have had to as well. The problem most of the time is trying to keep them from overdoing it even when trying to just give it a few weeks. Mine had the figure 8 surgery and it went very well. I looked into the more invasive procedures as well, but in the end the success rate was about the same.

If you need to do surgery, I would be more than happy to donate as well.

Thanks to the folks willing to step up and help and I bet there are a lot more that have not read the thread yet so if she does end up needing the Surgery send me your address and I will send funds to help. This is a very large site so I know dog lovers will step up and help.
