It's Bristol Baby

Well, the semiannual Bristol traffic jam is going nicely this week. Had two races yesterday. Today they closed off State Street and are having a big fan event downtown as I write this. Then races each night tomorrow and Saturday.

I try to stay off of the roads around here as much as possible during race weeks.

Beer is pretty much stacked to the ceiling at my local Food City.Unfortunately, I'm getting low on stock at the house, so I'll have to brave the mob tomorrow. I'm also low on dog biscuits. Boy, those go well with beer.

my driver had to deliver to a restaurant on State St. this morning. He was there by 8:30 AM and could only get as close as three blocks from the place. He told me traffic was murder trying to get the heck out of town. Thank goodness he did not have to go to the liquor store right near the track.

how 'bout that Kyle Busch?

I didn't even know there is a liquor store near the track. Maybe that's because I tend to give my liquor business to Virginia.

Im leaving in the morning to head that way for the race. I got some pit passes. If anyone else is gonna be in the puts and wants to drink a brew or 3 kno maybe we can hook up and watch some racing. Also if you do have pit passes make sure to wear jeans & tennis shoes. They won't allow you in if you have shorts or flip flops on. I learned that the hard way before and had to go buy some.

It is on 394 sort of near Vol Blvd. It's called Pit Row Liquors I think.

I found an article about the place. Apparently opened just before the spring race.

Last time I was at a Bristol race was in the 60s. I rooted for Leroy Yarbrough.

We are leaving tonight after work, so we wont get up there until way late.

You need to swipe 2 more pit passes and hook a brotha up :D

IMHO Bristol is not the place to be in the pits at. You can't see much of anything there. Really you can't see much in the pits at any track. Very over rated experience

I tell ya, you can see the entire track at Bristol. I mean see it up close from your seats. Take some binoculars and you can see in detail everything in the pit area. Man it is hot as fire down there. No breezes blow there. And due to the direction car exhaust is vented it is so loud as to be unbearable.

Now the pits are kind of cool to walk through before the race but I really feel it is an over rated experience.

I would advise people to stick with the grandstands, much better race experience.

I bet you have a great time

Its a different race experience for sure. I'll keep that in mind when I'm chillin with the Budweiser girls.

I'm really looking forward to the race. Gonna do some tailgaiting & drinking. I got to charge the camera battery tonight and I'll post pics if I get some good ones.

Bristol is a good party. People from all over the world come here because - well, because it's Bristol. Lots of camping space to sit around and cook and drink. There are also non-drinking campgrounds if that is your favorite flavor.

I really think that the races are secondary.

so now days you sit up there with a nice rifle and a 34 power scope and just watch them and wish....

Just kidding! Next time I get up that way, I've gotta give you a call and do lunch or something! been running way too hard and fast lately to get that sort of time..but I will get some time off here eventually!
