Tin Angel is a favorite for the "Boss".  Scheduling her birthday dinner there. Both the Mad Platter and Monell's original location are in the Germantown area just north of downtown.  I'd recommend both. The Mad Platter is more "romantic" (specialty is a five course dinner).  We share the appetizer. one eats salad, the other has soup and we order an second entrée.

Monell's is open for lunch and dinner all week but their breakfast is unbelievable (Sat & Sun only).  All of their meals are served family style, all you care to eat - good too.  Be prepared to sit at a table of 8-10 people including some that you don't know - some good conversations usually develop around the table though.

I would eat at Stockyards restaurant, or cheese cake factory. To bad houstons closed down. I loved their food.

Since you liked Tin Angel, you may want to check out Bound'ry. They get creative with their flavors in a way that's similar to Tin Angel.

I should have mentioned Soulshine Pizza too. It's a newer place on Division (close to Vandy) that's getting good press. I haven't tried them yet. Live music on some nights. It's a regional "chain" that started in Mississippi (3 locations there) and added Nashville as their 4th and latest location.

Same here, I had it a couple weeks ago in Memphis. We went on a saturday night so the wait was long but so worth it. One of the top steaks ive ever had.

Just read this tread and wanna thank you guys for enlarging my list of places to eat in Nasville. Being an amateur foodie this will help when the wife and I have extra time and money to go out.
