Frog Gigging

I haven't went in years, but we used to gig and shoot with a .22. Either way can be a challenge, we used to compete with the 22s to see who could make the furthest shot, etc.

I haven't been gigging since high school.  A buddy and me would go gigging and his mom would cook us frog legs for breakfast.  We would also get the occasional bass while we were frog gigging.  Man that was a lot of fun.

Dang, it's been a long time since I've done any giggin'. Used the .22, at times, too but figgered out real quick that you still needed to get close enough for a between the eyes shot to stop'm in place. Usually, a "just under" the top of the hump would, too but he still might crawl off, if ya don't get'm quick. Gigs are still better, though. The story of my last froggin' trip would take a couple pages to tell, so I'll refrain. Been wantin' to go, bad, lately 'cause there's some good creeks and river banks round here for it. Still doubt it could match the minnow ponds 'round Loanoke, AR, though. Awesome froggin' over there! And crawdads, too. When they drain them minnow ponds you can get all the 'dads you can deal with in a hurry. Some dang bigg'ns, too. Like little lobsters, they are.

Thems average, Erik. You should see some of'm that come outta Lousiana or them minnow ponds I was talkin' 'bout. There used to be a restuarant in Monroe, Louisiana, Cypress Inn (I think) that you could gets legs the size of small chicken legs and were some of the best I ever ate. Ain't none of them Chinese raised midget frogs down there. They had two frogs that were mounted on their bar counter that were big enough to eat coon hound puppies. I shat you not.
