What the hell is that nonsense you are talking? Why the hell would you put peanuts in a soda?

Chuck, are you joking? Back before there were mini marts, golden gallon, and the other bland convenience stores, every little rural and small town neighborhood had a ramshackle little mom & pop grocery where the locals would buy stuff on account and settle up on payday. Squeaking screen door and lots of rusting painted tin signs advertising this or that. You could buy food staples but also bb's, ammo, auto fan belts, whatever. Piled up in no particular order.

Anyway they always had a "trunk style" electric cooler full of cokes and such, immersed in water, reusable glass bottles kept near absolute zero so that half the contents would freeze up when you would pop the cap. On a hot sweaty day, dump a bag of salty peanuts in such a half frozen coke and it was even better than a RC cola and a moon pie. Or at least as I recall as a kid. Been awhile since eating/drinking such a rare treat. Ought to try it again sometime and see if it is still that tasty.

Wasn't me. Bacon is sacred to me

For me too, but I knew it would get a reaction. It's really a teaser for me since I'm on my 6 week, lose 20 pounds so I can climb the treestand for deer season without passing out, diet.....Damnit bacon, why do I love thee????  :yum:

Both my sisters married yankees, and they're ok for the most part I reckon.  Except the way they eat on Holidays.  Took it a long time to train them on that.

how did they eat on holidays?

Moonpies flat out suck.   I never understood the allure of them, they are drier than a popcorn fart.

I have heard of peanuts in a coke but I think it makes both products taste not as good as if you just eat and drink the things like normal.

bacon bits are great.  Ready made bacon no need to cook it myself.  Dump em in hash browns or mix em with cheese in some scrambled eggs. Other than that I prefer my bacon baked in a weave.  Perfect for a bacon, egg, cheese and lettuce with butter and mayo on toast.   Buttered under the eggs and mayo'd over the lettuce and bacon.   lettuce if fine for breakfast on a sammich.

I've never had it but I heard that the Wilson County fair had deep fried bacon? I can't imagine that it would be anything but awesome...not for arteries...but awesome. I also heard they do the same thing to butter, I had a heart attack just thinking about that one.

I've somtimes wondered if this is what it's like in a retirement community or some kind of asylum.

Maybe it's just a glitch in the matrix?
