my wife likes the Ruger P95 the best! Go figure huh??? That's out of Glocks, M&P's, CZ75s, Kahr's, Third Gen S&W's, etc. I don't own all of those now but she has shot all of them and said "that's my favorite gun out of all of them you have had." :shrug:

 

Anyone else's wife have a "different" taste in handguns than you do?

Well she's not my anything, cept possibly my future sister in law, but my brothers girlfriend will automatically gravitate tword my dads S&W 66. Not too odd I suppose as its a fantastic shooting revolver with a glass like trigger, but being as she's 20 and want much into guns or shooting before she got hooked up with my brother it is still interesting.

Haha yeah I thought about you when she said that! I myself didn't find anything great about the trigger or the gun in general other than light recoil and being built like a tank but hey I'm glad she likes it. Getting a few more mags for it now so it should be with us for the long haul.  There is NO WAY I'd get rid of it now that she has said she loved shooting it.

 

Just wait until she shoots the M&P pro CORE model I have decided on (I think). If I can find one that is.

My girlfriend still flinches if so much as a gun shows up during a movie, but she's aware she needs to work on not being such a ninny. Probably have to start her off with squirt guns and slowly work up to a 22 :rofl:

Yeah - mine too.  When I took her to the range she started with a .22 and worked her way up to my 1911 - when she shot that she said "Yep - this one is mine!"  After I pried my Springfield Loaded from her hand I had to buy her an ATI Titan.

Well...it's a Springfield XD-S, not a S&W, and it may not even be defective. They just can't risk not recalling them all. Nonetheless, I listened and printed the RMA label and boxed it up. It's going for a trip tomorrow. So, I'm actually walking around with a CZ P-01.

My better half and my youngest daughter both chose the Bersa Thunder .380. They both shot my Glocks and my 1911s but the one they wanted for their own was the Bersa. I don't know about taste but I think it has to do with the fit of the grips and the ease of racking the action.

My wife grew up shootin' with her dad on early S&W auto's and revolvers. Many years later and after all the caliber, model and styles of pistols I've had over the years, the wife turned to a G19 as her number 1 go to pistol. So much in fact she bought her own and to this day is the only firearm she's ever bought.

My wife hated guns when we met... I remedied that before I put a ring on it! Started her on a Walther P22. Now "her" gun is a nickel Smith 19-5 .357 and she LOVES it! This past weekend, however, she has taken it upon herself to get better with a semi-auto. (After I gave up trying to get her to do that very same thing!)

I've got an M&P 40 and for now, she just can't get used to the snappy recoil. However, the weekend before I bought a 9mm M&P barrel from w0lfattack. I swapped barrels, loaded 9s in the mags, and she went to town! We worked on a better stance and grip (she had been doing that awful leaning back and shooting with her weight on her heels garbage) as well as the "breathe & squeeze" trigger pull. She always shot her 19 in SA, so the M&P trigger was a whole new ball o' wax. We'll get a lot more practice in this weekend, but it's exciting now that she WANTS to get better at shooting! Can you believe, she actually ASKED for advice!!! Every husband's dream come true! ;-)

I actually like her gun okay. It's very comfortable and reliable. It's just not very accurate.

Maybe we are "brandwashed". My wife loves the Taurus PT92. I like it too, but I want to sell it to make room and she won't let me. On the other hand if it keeps her shooting its the best firearms investment I have made.

My wife likes a lot of different things -- the one thing we agree on is we both hate dislike actions. 

 

Her favorite pistols include her eaa witness,  cz kadet (.22 on a 75 frame, similar to witness),  a browning buckmark, and her taurus 22 and 22M revolvers.   She also loves her 1911 and many others. 

 

Her favorite rifles include a 30-30 lever, her 10-22, and an ar-15.

 

She likes antiques, does not own too many but sometimes buys an old revolver.  She picked out an extremely nice 45LC last year.

 

She dislikes shotguns.  Pretty much all of them, actually.

 

She does not enjoy big recoil, she will shoot it a few times and then go back to a gentle gun.  But she will try most anything once.

The walther is a DA/SA -- the safety can be safely left in the "FIRE" position.  The trigger is harder to pull than a glock's for the first shot (and probably for the followups as well).   The 1911 is "not recommended" to be carried with the safety in the "fire" position...  it has a fraction of the trigger pull over a fraction of the distance and that is asking for trouble.   I would think most folks that carry things like the walther do not use the safety at all.

My wife is not an avid shooter. For her night stand gun she has stuck with the first firearm I ever bought. It is a S&W Model 67 "Combat Masterpiece" 4" .38 stainless revolver. It is the first generation of that revolver, circa 1972 as I recall.

So she has remained old school and has confidence in that pre-lock stainless beauty.

My wife loves her Bersa Thunder .380. Will shoot my Xd40 and won't touch my 1911. She can hit whatever she wants at 30 feet with it so it works for me.
