Muzzleloading Bullseye Pistol

Recommended Posts

Recently I've gotten into black powder bullseye pistol shooting. Reason was because when I wanted to compete in conventional pistol and found out the cost was too much. I was just hoping to find more people locally interested in the idea. Maybe we could get a club or group of people together for it?

Go to Hafners range in Spring Hill and talk to Charlie Hafner or one of his RO's Jason. They are going to the Nationals for that.

Not for me but I want to watch the "rapid fire" stage...

I agree with you on the price tag.   I have a cheap setup but lost interest as the reality of the pay to win hit home.   I enjoy my solo practice sessions and the discipline of it without having a 10k investment in it.

Muzzleloading BP Pistol was how I got started competitive shooting.  Great memories of going with dad to NMLRA matches in Friendship, IN.  Sorry, I'm not living in TN anymore to get together.

Great way to learn fundamentals.  Blackpowder's not cheap anymore, but casting your own roundballs can definitely keep costs down.

Jonin, the official Limited Time Fire matches:

Caplock, 5 rounds in 5 minutes, starting with loaded pistol, 2 strings.

Flintlock, 5 rounds in 6 minutes, starting with loaded pistol, 2 strings.

Revolver, 10 rounds in 10 minutes, starting with no more than 5 chambers loaded, 1 string.

Same here.i bought a S&W model 41 a good red dot, etc.....went to a match to scope it out. Sold it all within a couple of months. Some guys had 22 pistols that cost several thousand dollars. A few had 3 or 4 pistols in their box. Too rich for my blood.

And such is fun to watch.   I went to a few civil war shooter competions (I forget the name of it, but its an official thing) to watch and when 10 guys line up and blast away with BP the smoke, smell, and all is pretty intense.
