Springfield Armory® is initiating this voluntary safety recall to upgrade 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm and 3.3 XD-S™ .45ACP pistols with new components, which eliminate the possibility of a potentially dangerous condition. We want to emphasize that no injuries have been reported to date.

Springfield has determined that under exceptionally rare circumstances, some 3.3 XD-Sâ„¢ 9mm and .45ACP caliber pistols could experience an unintended discharge during the loading process when the slide is released, or could experience a double-fire when the trigger is pulled once. The chance of these conditions existing is exceptionally rare, but if they happen, serious injury or death could occur.

Well crap, my 9mm is getting a trip back to the factory :(

Wow. First the Shield and now this.

If Glock were to release a single stack 9mm, right now, they'd clean up. (they probably would anyway but it's funnier this way)

Yeah, my new 45 I bought like last week is within this serial number range, so I guess it'll be going back. :(

I'm a bit surprised that anyone would consider not sending it back for whatever possible issue there may be. It may function properly the first 100 times, but that 101st could bite you when you're least expecting it. If there's a recall, I'm not taking any chances.

If you had over 600 rounds through yours and had seen no sign of the reported issue would you still send it back amidst the rush?

My only skepticism is in the fact that I haven't heard of anyone having the issue they are recalling it for. I know I haven't.

I believe I would. I know I wouldn't shoot it until it was "fixed", so it wouldn't do me any good just sitting in the safe while waiting for everyone else to get theirs fixed. Maybe it's just me being overly cautious.

I haven't heard anyone complain about the issue, either. If you're not concerned, I'm cool.

These manufacturers really need to start doing more vigorous testing before sending products out to market. This is becoming way too common.

I bet it has little to do with testing and a lot to do with manufacturing variation.  One process shifts a little this way, another one shifts a little that way and voila, recall.

Alerted the father in law. He has a XDS 45. He got it last year so we will see.

Dropped mine off @ FedEx on my lunch hour.  Tracking # says it will be delivered to SA next Tuesday.  Will be interesting to see the turnaround on this fix.

Add mine to the list. Guess I am back to my old dependable Glock and Sig P238.
