Remington 700, mimicking my Mosin

Recommended Posts

Yes, you read that right. My 700 that I just got is mimicking my Mosin in that it requires the aid of a 2x4 to eject the spent casing, lol. Seriously I had to use the bench to get it to eject, that was after I pull with everything I had, she wasn't budging so I used some good ol redneck ingenuity and beat on it, lol. I've contacted Remington but need to get the serial number to see if it's still under warranty, if not I'm gonna see how much it will cost to fix and as well thread the barrel for a 5/8x24 thread pitch or have them just drill it for a built in break.

I used Gibbs penetrating lubricant at the range which didn't help but am going to put some Slip2000 before my next outting. On the back of the casings you can see where it's contacting the chamber, creating a ring of scratches about 2-3mm long. The scratches weren't deep enough to cut the brass BUT enough that it's very noticeble.

Wow, the mooks at Remington were useless... I asked if it would be covered under warranty and since I'm not the orginal purchaser, it will NOT be covered. That's funny, Kel Tec NEVER asks me those questions, they ask what the problem is and without hesitation ask for an address so they can ship the parts to fix it or if it's inoperable they square it away, anyways this I can somewhat understand though. So I ask how much it would cost to polish the chamber, he doesn't know... WELL, okay, how much would a muzzle break setup cost? "$200" is what he responds with, I asked if that's installed and he "doesn't know". Look, I work in the automotive service industry and you DO NOT piss off the consumer like this, that is how you get a bad reputation.
