Built a new pack

Recommended Posts

So, what happens when you put together a medium ALICE pack, ALICE frame, MOLLE straps, and a MOLLE sleep system carrier?  You get what is affectionately known as the "Hellcat" pack by the dude who originally did a write-up on it over on Survivalist Boards.  In any case, I built this one to try out.  I'm out of town this weekend, but I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

It is very adjustable and should adjust all the way through the range of kids (age 10+ probably) to adult torso sizes.  It's not as lightweight as today's ultralight packs (obviously), but it's not painfully heavy by any means.

I love it dude. I have a large alice I plan to do the same thing too. You can't beat the setup for the money. Thanks for turning me on to those things. Tapatalk ate my spelling. Edited by Spots

Appreciate it gentlemen. I'm building a couple more of these for some kids in the family. I test fit this one on my 12 year old and with a few adjustments it fit great.

Empty pack weight is ~8lb. So, a few lb heavier than your average Kelty external frame pack, but I'd wager this will be much more durable.
