Taking 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' to a higher level

Sure would suck to have that on and fall in the water at night.

Current Navy working uniforms are already blue. The digi-cam wont make one lick of difference if you fall overboard. Don't matter if you are wearing day glo orange or blue. If the lookouts aren't paying attention it won't matter one bit. Especially at night when you're running with no external lights. Working below decks I can appreciate the digi cam since it will hide dirt and oil better. Not to mention not having to take care of the 4 different uniforms that this one uniform (the Navy's digi-cam) will replace.

I hated the dress greens that we had to wear. That was the uglist uniform ever devised by the Army. I like the dress blues, but not with the beret and I don't like them bloused either.

On the other hand I like the berets. I thought the reguler Army should have adopted the Tan and left the black to the Rangers though. That was a crappy thing to do to them.

I hope USMC doesn't follow suit. I liked both dress uniforms in USMC (wore both) But the one thing I really liked about Marine greens was that the only bright insignia on them was your rank, wings, badges and ribbons (including Pistol and Rifle Marksmanship badges). In short the only thing that stood out was what you as an individual had earned. You stood out in uniform because you had earned the right to stand out! Everything else was subdued and standard. Greens were more business like and appropriate when dealing with civilian counterparts too. The greens were a real professional looking uniform in the civilian environment.

I have noticed that I can tell a Jarhead from a Soldier from the back on TV. The Gyrene's uniform fits , the other guy looks like he is in PJs. Not their fault and doesn't keep them from being outstanding fighting men, but they do look sloppy!

I hope I get to retire before I wear those Class B's. I am glad about the smaller

service stripes on the new blue's. The last set of the full sleeve service stripes

set me back $160.00 to have sew on. I am not crazy about the beret either.

I know a few years back when were surveyed on this, all the lifers wanted to go back

to the WWII fitted Pink's. Khaki's were a great uniform also.

I totally agree with the you. The Rangers got screwed on their end.

I am glad I was out when that b.s. happened. It was such a slap in the face to the soldiers who earn those berets. It still make me angry . Regular Army units should had never been allowed to wear them. I forgot the fool who made this happen. Did he even ask the regular units if they even wanted the darn thing?

I still have my maroon beret and I will be buried with it. Lots of time, blood, sweat and tears went into earning that thing. It's a privilege to get it, not a general issue thing.

In all fairness when I came in (still in) some Cav and Armor units were wearing the

black beret. The Rangers were wearing their Ranger Patrol Cap with the tab on it.

They took them away from armor to give the Rangers.

I still don't care for the black berets. Most Armies around the world have been wearing them for the most part of fifty years.

We are in the middle of a war that we hear daily how much it’s costing…. And the Army decides to spend a bunch of money to change uniforms…. WTF over?

I guess not having proper battle gear for our troops got all straightened out?

Despite being at war, 100% of the military isn't committed to the war 100% of the time. This has probably been in the works for years.

they are saving money in the long run by not supplying the army greens plus the blues and going instead with just blues.

this isnt a change so much as dropping the greens and going exclusively with the blues as the blues have been around for years just normally for more formal occasions.

also General Eric Shinseki was the one that did the berets if i remember correctly. IMO a good general saying what has come to be known as truth in iraq before the war started.
