Christ! I had no idea one small case of BP could do that much damage being it has an open end to vent.

Why did the case explode? Did you have it covered with your hand or?

In addition to the comprehensive list of static-inducing items earlier posted, the most obvious omission was certain types of synthetic clothing, nylon, polyester, "no wick" type thin synthetic shirts. Especially in low humidity. Maybe some wool as well, though I don't recall ever working up a spark with wool.

WoW! I'm getting to this party late but wanted to send my good thoughts and prayers your way! Very cool that it seems the doc.s were able to put all of the peices where they at least look like they belong, My advice is hang on to the reloading gear, even if you uninstall it now (and I do not blame you one little bit for wanting todo just that) but you may feel differenttly in a few months or even a year from now.

Seems that a spark would have to jump down into the case to ignite the BP, or are the fumes ignitable on BP. Looks like a spark jumping to the case wouldn't set it off.

The powder was 42 grain, and was level with the top of the case. Load data called for a compressed load.

I too am very happy that your injuries were not worse.  You certainly got my attention.  I was never concerned about static electricity but I am now.

Healing is coming along good. I got all the stitches out and now it's bruising, swelling and soreness I'm having to deal with. I'm improving more and more each day. I still have little use of my thumb and fore finger. I think time will work in my favor here.

Thank you for asking. Good day to all!

Really glad to hear that you are healing ... and thoughts and prayers still for complete healing.

It's amazing how much we take the use of our fingers and thumbs for granted until something comes along and buggers up how they work.
