and many conservative Americans, would not be welcome in today’s military.

“And it is striking that some the language in this new document echoes the IRS targeting language of conservative and Tea Party investigations.  After reviewing this document, one can’t help but worry for the future and morale of our nation’s armed forces.”

Before anyone goes and gets their panties in too big of a bunch, I didn't know this was ever in question? The Founding Fathers were extremist insurgents who at times engaged in acts of terrorism (Boston Tea Party!) by the modern definitions. The ideas of personal freedom and individual liberty are extremist ideas when you look at the larger picture of man's historical involvement with its mortal enemy, the state. The notion that a person is the best determiner of how to live his/her life and that the role of the state is only to protect the ability to live by those choices without forceful infringement by others is a wholly and completely radical idea. Those who will compromise and not proudly wear the badge of extremist in the defense of liberty are not your friend, they are your enemy.

I have been using "Stazi" a bit, lately. I guess the DOD
is only confirming that. A lot has happened since 9/11/01
that people never expected as unintended consequences.

Interesting place created.

I'm just not sure what you mean CS. Your statement: "The notion that a person is the best determiner of how to live his/her life and that the role of the state is only to protect the ability to live by those choices without forceful infringement by others is a wholly and completely radical idea." seems to me to describe "The Great American Experiment" which was unique (Radical?...that term seems to be extreme to me) but also a huge success for freedom until recent history due to liberal intervention and made this nation the strongest in the history of the world and the country everyone wanted to live in. (A fact not mentioned by the minions that hold the views reported in said article) It's almost like you're saying the issue reported in "The Blaze" is a GOOD thing, and the view being presented should not offend anyone and "get their panties in a wad".....I don't agree with the notion our founding fathers fighting for their freedom were terrorists extremists when they were fighting against a tyrannical king trying to throw his loop of oppression over them, when this was the reason they left "His" country to begin with..... There will always be "lapdogs" in government willing to toady up to any regime; no matter how idiotic or despotic in order to curry favor and advancement within that regime.  In the east tennessee vernacular; "...they are anybody's ole dog that will pet them...".... .   That is the nature of the standing army and bureaucracy anywhere.  The military and the government cabin industry attracts the full spectrum of the society that it draws its recruits from; from left to right, mild to wild, from straight to gay, despotic to libertarian, patriot savior of the citizenry to potential murderer of the citizenry,  --- ya get the picture.

Remember this, service in the military does not equate to selfless patriotism; nor does "public service" in government equate to statesmanship and selfless "giving back" to the country.   There will always be some fraction of this bunch that will gladly do the bidding of their political masters in order to curry favor from them.

Take the time to google the details of the "Bonus March" of 1932 and take a look at some of the names of those who took action to suppress this "mob" of people.  My bet is that you will be dismayed and saddened.

You are what you are... .  Your deeds will surely follow you; be they good or evil... .
