I understand that it is fully legal and understand why.http://www.sigsauerguns.com/product-highlights/sb15-pistol-stabilizing-brace/ How many court cases are going to come from these being used and a LE not fully understanding how this is not a SBR. To meit is just anothe item that people are going to use to make those "my rights were violated" videos where they get beligerant with LE.

Thats come up in a couple of threads here. The orginal creator has a letter from the ATF stating it is legal. I have heard from those who have used one that it is soft foam and much to soft to use for a stock.

Tapatalk ate my spelling.

Here ya go:

LEO tells you to drop your weapon, you reply, "I can't!"  :)

Some folks are claiming they do use it as stock. Myself, even a real full stock at that length is pretty bad. Much prefer buffer tube up alongside cheek as third point of contact.

It is interesting that Sig does not actually have an ATF letter of approval for the actual product they are selling, only the prototype from designer does.Would be quite the whoopdedoo if they decided to nix it. Has happened with other products in the past.

If you watch Sig's promo video, they only demo it with the velcro straps securing the brace to the shooter's arm.  In that configuration, the brace cannot be used as a stock (barrel and forearm are fixed in the same vertical plane), so they could make the argument that it is not a stock and take their chances with the ATF, which is what it appears they've done.

they can call it whatever they want, but in my mind when the bevel the pad to act as a cheek rest it became apparent that it is designed to be usable as a stock.    On the other hand SBR laws are stupid anyways so good on them for playing the same game the ATF plays all the time and apparently winning for now

Notice that the letter from Sig's site has the original headings missing. It was to the developer (Alex Bosco) only for his prototype at the time, before Sig ever got involved, and certainly not to Sig for their production product.

Was made of a different material when he got the letter,  perhaps much squishier than what Sig is using.

I still think there's a chance ATF might jump on this, especially since I'm starting to see posts about folks saying they find it suitable as a stock.
