For the surveyor, I've heard a few guys at work talking about initial point before when working on some projects.  May want to see if they will come out to your part of town because these guys wouldn't call someone twice if there was even a bit of trouble with getting the work done.

If you haven't cut all the ones down you want cut, you might look into getting a logger out there. You might have some trees that could bring you some good money.

Its possible, but 98% of loggers and logging outfits won't look at anything under 10 acres, and especially if its already had someonencutting on it. Have you looked at renting a stump grinder and doing it yourself?

Tapatalk ate my spelling.

resurrecting an OLD thread to say thanks. we had some tree work done today, and this thread saved me big time.

won't name names, but had the only tree service i had experience with out to provide a quote. thought to get a second opinion, and searched the forum for any old posts. called steve with apex based on several posts in this thread.

could not have been more pleased. great price, great service, but a great guy to boot.

just wanted to add this in case anyone else ever searches old threads for help. now back to the basement with you!

I actually rented one back in May; paid $135 for the day and was able to remove 24 stumps between 5 houses in the neighborhood, couple of them were some big 36-40" too.

After seeing how cheap it is, I'd definitely recommend renting one and getting with your neighbors to see if they have anything.  Heck, if we split the bill, it would've only cost me about $25 to do 6 stumps.
