Three shot in Craven County, NC

This one is interesting for a few reasons. I think the race of the shooter will somehow NOT make national news...nor will his demise. I'm feeling pessimistic this morning...

VANCEBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities said the three people shot by a gunman near a Craven County high school Tuesday afternoon are in serious condition.

According to Sheriff Jerry Monette, an elderly black male, armed with a shotgun and a handgun, shot two tree trimmers and a neighbor in the 2100 block of Streets Ferry Road, near Vanceboro.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. less than a mile from West Craven High School.

Monette told WCTI-TV that the gunman also shot at other people, but they were not hit.

My wife has a friend who lives on that street. She says the "gunman" was shot by a neighbor. I haven't looked for more info from other sources. Edited August 21, 2013 by Razz

Like one of the posters said, it has nothing to do with the school. Wonder why they mentioned it? :sarcasm

My family is from there and I was born in new bern.

Just spoke with my brother, he used to work with one of the guys involved and is pretty sure that he installed an alarm system at some point for the shooter.  More going on than the news is letting on about. IDK what it is but that's what he said.
