Don't hit above the line or...

Recommended Posts

What really strikes me is that the OP appears to be a LEO. I don't like ridiculous rules either, but the Range has a legitimate reason behind this policy and it provides funding from the rule breakers for the eventual damage that will likely occur if the activity continues. Ranting about other possible restrictions that they could have, but don't have, just because of one rule that you don't like is not fair to the Range. Now if you want an example of a range that has some ridiculous rules that don't have any real legitimate basis behind them, look to the TWRA range in Memphis. On days that they are open to the public, hardly anyone shoots there, while Range USA a few miles down the road will have over an hour wait.

Bottom line here is that YOU are responsible for where your rounds go, the responsibility doesn't change whether its a range or real life.  Eight dollars is a cheap enough lesson IF it helps one keep all their rounds where they want them to go.  Two in the bad guy and one in the old lady isn't going to get it done,

are you reffering to yourself here?

I dont think they'll miss you one bit.  Maybe they wont have to repair their system either.  You are being awful beligerant for someone who signed an agreement before entering the range.  You knew the agreement and failed to hold up your end.  Plus they are a paying sponser of TGO, they deserve a little respect.  If you dont agree with the $8, fine, shoot somewhere else, but your are crying over something that you admitadly did.  its like complaining about a speeding ticket by saying the speed limit was too low.  You kew the rules

I did hold to my agreement and paid em for their holes. 24 bucks worth of holes in a 15 cent piece of cardboard. I'm not being belligerent, just going off like other folks do when they feel they've been jammed over BS policy.Happens all the time around here. I'm a paying sponsor too, NA couldnt give a rats behind about TGO members.Theres no discounts,no warez, nothing at NA if you mention TGO,and fwiw Ive spent over 2 grand at NA since they opened which is prob more than most on this group have in the past year.I have every right to be a pissed off customer........I understand deterring idiots from recklessly damaging something with no care.Charging a good customer 24 bucks regardless is a bunch o ####. Read what i posted earlier. I don't care if they miss me or not.We all have our I cant stand LGS's my point is 8 bucks a hole is insane, telling a paying range customer not to shoot 25 yards on a 25 yard lane because the target may get hurt is belligerent.

Maybe ill buy a full membership and hang my own steel plate over their cardboard. Something they should have done on their own after the first azzwipe took their target system out.steel plate isnt expensive.

Theres a range in VA that has almost the same system as NA. Ive observed customers come in with shotguns and rifles below .50 .These guys built their target hangers right and never charged for holes or hitting the steel holders.....I was kinda shocked to see the 12 ga in action inside but i didnt care. The place was safe and enjoyable.I attempt to have a good sense of humor but i have little respect for as many on here say: "GOUGERS"...

BTW Nicky I did talk to a mgr, even asked him a few questions about the lanes, what i got was "it tis what it tis' w no disrespect from him. I just wish they would make some changes and take care of those who spend money on stuff besides paper targets.......

Lesson to be learned is that you cannot afford to miss what your shooting at.  $8 a miss is steep but not as steep as plugging an innocent bystander.

Would you perfer a you break it you buy it policy? What if you had damaged the target system and they wanted to bill your credit card a couple of grand to fix it. You'd really have your panties all twisted up more than you do now.  Don't like their rules or policy don't shoot there, its really pretty simple.

Dustbuster, by your same logic, cops (ie you) should let me off the hook when I'm speeding and driving recklessly because I pay tens of thousands of dollar in taxes, I am a good customer afterall.

BTW, would you like some cheese with your whine?

From the original post on NA they are not allowed reloads due to insurance. I am guessing they have a pretty high deductible cost and they are using this to offset that cost. I can't blame them for doing that. I would pray the engineers aren't that dim to put all the expensive stuff within bullets reach but again I have worked on a new Volkswagen before so they probably did.

I would just tape 2 targets together over each other one halfway down to do my headshots.... Midgets need headshots too.

I just shoot at small round targets.  I don't need man size sillouettes.  I figure if I can hit smaller then plate size targets I could hit a sillouette if needed.

If I want to practice head shoots, well a round target would work, no matter where it is on the target area, even dead center(no pun intended).

BTW, a friend that works at a driving range is going to hook me up with allot of old driving range golf balls to shoot at.

You know, if you can't afford the $8 bucks then either don't shoot there, be more accurate with your shots...the whining has about reached the "crying baby on a plane" stage.  :drama:

I mean, it is a free country (well...somewhat)...anyway just go somewhere else; I suspect NA and you will both be happier.

Did you not believe them when they said they would charge you for shooting above the line?

Your outrage makes no sense. If you so vehemently disagreed with the policy then you should have never shot there in the first place. To get mad about a charge that you knew would be made is ridiculous. Maybe, I dunno, you should have shot below the line like they told you. Edited by TMF

All constructive points well taken. Taping targets seems to be a good solution. Ill inquire about bringing in my own steel plate..... Thanks for bearing with my vent!

Fair enough, you seem like a reasonable guy Dust and I've personally enjoyed reading many of your posts. I do think its bad form to essentially discount NA as a bunch of money hungry monkeydicks, but I guess we all need to vent sometimes.

On one hand, I can see being sort of bent (at myself mainly) about 8 bucks for a hole in cardboard.  On the other hand, I'd consider myself lucky that all I had to pay was 8 bucks a hole.  I'd come out of there thinking I was super lucky and didn't hit something way more expensive.  I've never shot inside before because I can go outside in my yard and shoot all I want so I would look at it this way if I did go somewhere to shoot.  I was brought up by my parents to know that it's their house and while your there, you follow their rules and if you break something, you have the obligation to make it right, accident or not.

TMF hit the target below the line on this one.  In other words, I agree completely.  The complaint is stupid and baseless.  Learn to aim and hit what you aim at.
