Thank ye fellers. I'm thinking I'm gonna throw a Nikon Buckmaster 6-14x40mm on it. Finding rings that fit it are a pain at the moment, though in all honesty I've never messed with scopes, like EVER, lol.

I love Rem 700's, they've always been real good to me, but I have to ask ... why chambered in .300 Winmag? Any particular purpose in mind or is this a case of "just because"? (Nothing wrong w/just because mind you, I have a couple "just because" myself).

I'm a military weapons and tactics junky, have been since I was knee high and am wanting to build a military sniper replica(Mk 13, M40, XM2010, etc.) and a couple of their more recent rifles are chambered in .300WM, plus after reading about it's ballistics performance, I have fallen head over heels for it. :love:

Gotcha, yea it's a heck of a long-distance round, more energy @ 800+ than the .308 but it isn't going to be fun to shoot, you'll have to be real careful not to let it cause you to start flinching when you touch them off.

Seriously, I'm not recoil sensitive at all but when I squeeze on a big magnum rifle round I have to really concentrate on being relaxed the whole way through because even a hardened shooter will automatically want/start to tense up the instant their finger feels the sear start to break.

Just remember to breath deep, focus on your sight picture and heart beat, don't even think about taking the shot, just let it happen & you'll be able to keep from flinching.

Well, shot er this last Sunday. Using the scope that was on it(Tasco World Class 50 3-9x50), I was more curious than anything if it was dialed in. Let me first describe the preshooting scenario; If you have ever met me, I am somewhat jittery, don't know why, you'd almost think I was on something, lol. I was resting the rifle on my rifle pack and firing on a 50yd target, I was off the bullseye by about 2 1/2 inches but I couldn't hold another good shot as after the first, the scope touched my nose from the recoil so it had scared me into flinching after the next four shots. Two of the following rounds didn't even touch the paper and one was on the edge(target was a 1ftx1ft shoot'n'c). I'm not super worried about fixing the scope position as I'm getting rid of it this coming Monday in favor of a Leupold Rifleman 4-12x40 with Leupold QRW rings. I did have a problem with ejecting the spent casings. Apparently once fired the back of the casing flared out enough to cause a stoppage, it made the fit so tight that it was unable to be ejected by hand and had to open the bolt and then press it against the bench I was shooting off of, needless to say it required some coercion. I'm going to contact Remington today and see if it is still under warranty and if so can that fix that problem under the warranty.

Make sure you have plenty of eye relief. Pulling the trigger on the Winmag with your face too close to the scope will definitely leave a mark.

Well, figured out her problem and uh, well, do I feel like a jack@$$... all it needed was some lubricant and a THORUGH cleaning. -_-  There was so much gunk in there that was actually jamming it, not the bore of the chamber.
