I know this isn't the wanted thread but By the way, if anyone has the book I'd Gladly pay for it if you're done w it and don't save books.

It might be worth checking your local library, that's were I read mine.

I'm on my phone right now so I can't see your location so that might not be an option.

McKay's Used Books on OHB in Bellevue.

It's just McKay. No 's. Like Kroger.

I liked the movie a lot. I love the Texas theater posting above.

The stars are beginning to align for a 2nd viewing this Saturday.  My wife has a friend coming to town, and are staying with us.   I can get away for 1/2 day unseen.  :x:

On a side note factoid. Iraqis and other middle easterners were convinced that texans were cannibals that feasted on humans. Was a great interrogation tool !!

Nothing wrong w it except if luttrell was corpsman I'd figure him to have anything but a mark12. I didn't read the book so I'm thinking out loud... If I'm wrong I know someone will educate me

In jobs like this being a medic is a secondary thing. Not uncommon for medics to be snipers or have to hump machineguns in special operations.

The wife and I watched the movie last night. The place was packed! We were there 25 minutes early and had a hard time finding seats.

I watched it today with lumberjack in the rpx (imax style). I thought it was a good movie, even if it didn't follow the book to the T. I enjoyed it, but its not one I care to see again in theaters, its just hard to watch what those guys went through, and know how its going to end. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

even with the bad results I could watch this movie multiple times cause it just fills the room with how bad ass the attitude of those guys are, even though they keep getting short end of the stick, over and over again.

Well, ya gotta figure that the task organization on a high tier mission with 4 or less dudes would require a buttload of special skills which would exceed the organic skills of an infantry company.... so you have a guy who does commo, but also has to do a lot of other stuff. Same for a medic. He's gonna have to have a lot of other capabilities. It's easier to teach a medic to be a sniper than to teach a knuckle dragger to be a medic. That's why all them spec ops guys have all them cool capabilities. You have to cram a lot of capabilities into a small force.

Gotta say you could have heard a pin drop last night when I went to see the movie, only sound you heard was the duck part..  the rest, was silence..

Even our medics asked for 203's for the bottom of their guns just to be more effective in a fire fight. Makes perfect sense, and we sure as heck gave them to them. It's really not uncommon in higher tier elements to do stuff like that. It's all METTTC and what the mission needs.

Finally, got to see it a 2nd time.  I took my son to it today.  He liked very much.  I was able to see that Marcus Luttrell himself makes several cameo appearances early in the movie.   He was at the picnic table, I believe I saw him in the crowd during the ops briefing, I think once more during the new guy introductions and he boards the Chinook for the rescue that got shot down.
