Made this today...works pretty well. I plan on making a better one now that I have used it and see where I can improve.

Normal name is a trivet. You should look into making it a tripod instead of 4 legs. Little lighter and easier to pack. Looks good though.

Here's a youtube video of another style "trivet" or camp grate.

 

If I were to use your grate I'd want some manner of upturned points or flats made so that you don't have to balance on the center pivot. Your trivet might be ok for the frying pan/mess kit with a handle, but an odd shaped pot or container, or a shift in contents could send your food/water spilling easily.

yea. It was okay for the pan but it needs tweaking.

You could put an extra bend in each leg to keep the pan just barely off that bolt and maybe make it to where it folds in on itself.
