I'm just getting into revolver deer hunting and would like some suggestions on 357 mag ammo from those who have been using that cal for deer.  Also any advice on reloading components for the same.  This has prob been covered a lot.  If there are other threads please advise.

I use 180gr. Rem.  Works well.

I have been doing a good bit of research on this topic my self. I ended up getting a 357 max but I think you will find most recommend 180 grain solids. And to stay away from quick expanding bullets used for self defense.

I can't really comment on the 357 specifically because I haven't shot a deer with mine. However, out of my 44, I use a heavy lead softpoint. I agree with spikehunter... stay away from quick expanding self-defense ammo. Heavy, penetrating ammo is what I look for when handgun hunting.

Have you found any 357 max ammo in the last 20 years? I used to really enjoy reloading it for my Contender but used up all my brass. Could get some really impressive performance out of a 10 inch barrel

Like the others said, try and use something that will penetrate good. The impressive 125 gr JHP that is a great defense load won't be great on deer. Just keep that in mind.

Yea I have all the components but have not loaded for it yet(10 inch contender barrel) I bought them off other forums. Hard stuff to find, but I'm hoping what I have will last a while. I think my go to will be the 180 gr xtp bullet. Anyways don't want to hijack the thread. I have had good performance shooting 357 out of it so may also try that on a doe this year.
