Stupid SBR question...

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

If I were to buy a Rock River .223 pistol with a 10.5" barrel...

Link to visual...

Then submit my paper work for my $200 SBR stamp...

Could I then (once approved), get it engraved, and slap a collapsible stock on that little sucker and proceed to giggle like a little school girl?

Does the fact that it is engraved ".223 pistol" on the reciever

from Rock River when I first got it matter?

I'm not sure it would... but am now uncertain.

The reason I ask is that to me this seems like one of the cheaper ways to

get into a SBR that would be reliable. Maybe $1200-ish...

Am I thinking wrong on this?

Edit: Nevermind. Didn't read it completely.

Can you do it? Yes

Thank you for your honesty...

Do I think its a cost savings measure? No
I hate you for your honesty. :D

Dern... I keep running numbers but "2+2" keeps equaling "4". :D

I will put together a few packages tomorrow and post pictures, but I am confidant that you can buy a complete SBR from us for 1200.00 that is way less hassle and way cooler than the RRA pistol to SBR route you are looking at

Ok, here is a follow up question. Can the AR pistol be turned into a rifle with a 16" barrel and stock and then returned to pistol condition legally?

Thanks.

Legally? No.

You can take a pistol and make it a rifle, bu one it's had a stock installed, it will always be classified as a rifle.

I figured I would stay late tonight and put the packages together for you.

Thanks Joe. I just saw the thread you posted. Running numbers now.

Also looking at what can be liquidated.

Those look like awesome prices!

Thanks again for taking the time to put this all together.

Converting an AR pistol into an SBR also requires that the receiver be engraved, correct?

Yes, its the exact same process as converting/registering a regular rifle receiver.
