Disheartening Realization

Since the topic about stuff that makes you feel older I have been noticing little things. But today I was really disturbed by one major realization.

My mastiff is buffer than I am! lol

We weren't playing rough or anything, as we often do. I just for some reason realized the size difference. Since my accident I have been loosing muscle mass but just really noticed how much. Lets put his size into perspective here, his neck (using his collar) is as big around as my hat band. His front leg is about the size of my thigh. His mouth can literally fit my boxer's ENTIRE head when they play. He probably weighs in around 130, still about 100 shy of me but it is all muscle.

The reason this concerns me is that the reason I have never been afraid of large breed dogs is because I figured I could fight them off if they went bat s*** crazy. Obviously I would be injured. But now I have to question it.

Don't get me wrong, I have no worries about my current pets. They are too loving and baby-ish. As well as they are both very soft mouthed even with one another. I still reign alpha and they respect that. What I am worried about is if I should ever get another this large. I typically adopt 1-4 year old dogs to skip the chewing phase and am not sure about the upbringing they may have had. My boxer's size is probably going to have to be my limit from now own.

Any of you had a similar realization with pets or anything? Maybe a son or nephew that got to big to wrestle with? Any advice?

Yeah one time when I was helping a vet out with a 240+lb mastiff. The things head was the size of a basket ball. I led him into an exam room that was about 8x8. He had to go one way and I had to go the other just to get out of the room. He was in front of the door when I looked at him and realized that if he attacked me there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it.

Sounds like a cool dog. I get jealous of my pit bulls because they only weight about 90lbs each but are but rock solid.
