They really are going step by step and "fundamentally transforming the country"

Since the pundits say this is only political with a small p, it's a legal issue, I wont post in Politics. So, I see we may be about to start emptying our prisons and putting everyone back on the street.

Listening to Holders speech and announcement yesterday, the only way to look at it is "If you are no longer going to prosecute or sentence on the current guidelines, then everyone who was sentenced under those guidelines will, or should be released".

In case you did not hear Holders speech yesterday, drug related sentencing guidelines are now null and void. He stated that he and Obama have discussed it and they have decided to "Fundamentally Change" the US Justice System. Because every change is "fundamental". No longer will sentences be based on minimum sentencing guidelines. But will give judges and jury's more leeway in deciding someones sentence.

Now I know there will be the argument that the War on Drugs is a failure and the jails and prisons are full of "Innocent people". Well Holder isnt talking about the soccer mom down the street who got caught with her stash of weed which exceeded the amount that required minimum sentencing guidelines. No, he is talking about everybody.

Some might say "He/She got busted using Crack, Meth, Heroin, etc" but didnt have any record. It wasnt a violent crime. It was a victimless crime. Thats total BS. You use Meth, Cocaine, Heroin or one of any other number of drugs, then YOU hold responsibility for everything that happened in that chain for those drugs to get to you. You are supporting it by your use. Use Meth, made locally? Somewhere out there is a life ruined, usually many lives, and families. Cocaine and Heroin, got caught stealing, robbing or B&Eing someones house "just once with no other record" only means you got caught. It doesnt mean you havent done it before and would not have done it again.

When you break in and steal someones personal property, when you ruin families, when you rob people to support your habit, those are not victimless crimes as Holder put it. And that chain that got those drugs to you, plenty of victims in that chain.

Of course this will require taxpayer treatment, I can see a few billion going out for that.

Anyone who thinks these people will stop using crack, meth and heroin once they hit the streets or are sentenced to probation and treatment can keep dreaming.

Nothing that Obama and his commie minions have done in the last four and half years has made any sense as to being a good, or a better policy for the USA and the people's welfare. And yet, they are not held responsible or accountable for pushing our country over the cliff. Total lunacy in this administration, and the people that support them. The commies are laughing everyday at the American people's stupidity. Senator Joe McCarthy is rolling in his grave right now.

All those republicans and libertarians that stayed home in 2012 just never thought that "voting is the best revenge". Apathy will destroy our nation as well as the commies destroying it.

As with this article, most everything this administration has done, without the blessing of Congress, has been illegal. He, or any one person in the administration can't legally change something like that. He can't just

come out and deem it, either.

We will just have to see if anyone in Congress has anything to say, won't we?

Granted...some of the sentencing guidelines are just flat out wrong but many aren't. I just can't see a soccer mom caught with a gram of coke doin' 10 years more than a freakin' murderer will but a dealer or manufactorer of such drugs should get the same kinda time a killer gets, in my book. But they also need to do somethin' 'bout the amount of drugs comin' into the prisons, as well. What good is it to send someone to prison for drugs when they can still get the same inside? Not an ounce one of intervention goin' on there. Screw Gen-Pop...build more "holes" and a "few" things will change and waive those BS "inhumane" rights and let'm know prison = suffering, for the wrong offense. Cause others harm, well....good luck on surviving this ride, fella/gal/whatever. Whatever they propose to do should be done legally through Congress but we'll have to wait and see, won't we?

This administration really likes to "pick & choose" which laws they will or won't enforce, this is just one more example of our DOJ ignoring the law, Constitution &/or judicial rulings because of ideological corruption.

I've never seen anything like this, except in "banana republics" &/or one-party States.

Hmm. Obama yet again does the exact opposite of what I want to see happen, great. Thanks a lot. God, I hate liberals. We need a few centuries of mandatory drawing & quartering of dopeheads en masse to make up for this...

My JROTC instructor from high school said something to me a few months back when we went riding, he said, "I didn't vote for Obama but I am not going to mock him for every little thing he does because I pray for our society that he is the best president that we will have ever had. The liklihood of that is just about zero percent but I really do hope that he does change things for the better because if he gets much worse than last term then our country is probably going to fall in the 10-20 years because of his actions." I was a little awe struck at first but then let the meaning of his words sink in, he's abolutely right and it isn't anything new but if it gets way worse than it is now, we can kiss our way of life good bye.

He could change everything for the better with the stroke of a pen. Resign, and take Joe Biden with him.

The problem with that is Joe Biden wouldn''t go. Heck, he probably secretly wishes Obama was bumped off!

Here is something that we all must understand....

In our lifetime - - - We will Never, Ever, Be Rid of Barry Hussein.  :yuck:

Even after Jan 20th 2017, he will continue to "Speak Out & Act Out" because he has that type of narcissistic personality.

We will long for the post presidency days of Jimmy Carter building Houses for Humanity.

There is a "war" on drugs just like I am a brain surgeon. And I'm not. I believe that if all drug dealers or users were caned like the kid that spray painted the car in Singapore years ago they would stop. I really believe that there should be no prisons, only small local jails and if you are convicted of say being a drug dealer that 10 or however many "you choose a number" of licks were given with a professional caner, I bet ya that you could drive an 18 wheeler of dope into his yard and the next thing he would do is call 911 for somebody to come get this out of his yard. There should be 2 forms of punishment. 1 caning and the 2nd hanging. If the 1st punishment doesn't solve the problem, the 2nd one surely would. I know that this may sound brutal to some, but it works. Look at the countries that cut off your hand for stealing, most of the time I bet 1 hand cut off solves that problem. Paul Harvey said it best that we had more percent of our population in prison, that in itself proves that it doesn't solve the problem, there is little to no punishment for the crimes being committed. Put them on a chain gang and let them make little rocks from big rocks, no A/C, no weight lifting, no basketball. If you want to act like animals, you shall be treated as such. Don't worry about overcrowding, use the old Army tents and barbed wire,

The handwriting is on the wall guys....What we have, is a group of people in power that have finally reached the point that they can carry out an old plan to bring this country to its knees.  They have bought their way into these positions of power by siphoning our hard earned money out of our pockets, being those that actually WORK for our living, using it to bribe the masses into swapping their freedoms for a meaningless existence of servitude. They have been able to increase their voting base with empty promises that posterity is right around the corner, just give us a little more time. In the meantime, they continue to grow the voting base by writing laws that will allow millions of additional people here illegally to become voting citizens knowing that they are just a very few short years away from having total control of the country and everybody that lives in it.

I'll be totally honest here and say that I really don't think the tide can be turned now. Too many of our conservative "leaders", who were our only hope, are now eunuchs with rings in their noses.....Trophies of an elite Liberal agenda quickly heading towards Socialism and eventually Communism when the right leader takes the reigns.

I agree with Holder and Obama on this.

Mandatory minimums for non violent crimes are beyond stupid.

The war on drugs needs to end.

Privatizing prisons for profit needs to end.

Those three things would be extremely beneficial to our nation.

We imprison more of our citizens than any other nation on earth.

It's not because we have worse people. It's because we have stupid laws and sentencing guidlines.

Heck, with Obamacare ruining our economy and destroying full time jobs, and with the IRS targeting political opposition and tracking our money, we've already have the first elements of socialism/communism working at full speed. And their commie leader has three and a half years left to finish destroying our nation. A lot of s### is going to hit the fan and splatter everywhere during these next three years. We haven't seen nothing yet as to how bad it's to going get, and everyone will be reminiscing the Carter years.

As for Holder and the Libs releasing criminals over drug use, it's just part of their agenda to legalize drugs to help further destroy people and families lives, and ultimately destroy America. It makes them further dependent on government, and not able to be productive and independent citizens. Americans wil become nothing more than dregs of society. Edited by ThePunisher

Much of this scheme was crafted back in Woodrow Wilson's era. I said it 25 years ago that the U.S. would become a 3rd world country because we don't make anything or very little anymore. It is difficult to find a shirt, hat, pair of pants or anything that is actually made here. It puts us on the wrong end of the stick to have all these imports and very little in exports. I still say No to drugs and the cane would FIX it in short order. I guarantee that kid that got caned for spray painting the car still remembers well that day he got caned because there are welts left that won't disappear and every time he scratches his butt, he remembers not to do that again!! I say NO to legalizing drugs!!

I agree with you 100% on all of it. The problem is thats not what Holder and Obama are doing. Announced today the way it will be done. Since it requires that Federal Courts make changes to the laws, or a bill to be passed in Congress then signed off by Obama in order to change minimum sentencing guidelines, which isnt going to happen. Holder has instructed Federal LE that if they find someone in a criminal act that also involves drugs, to find a charge that will not trip the minimum sentencing guideline requirement. It's an end run around the Justice system and as a Former Attorney General said yesterday, if anyone else were to order something like that it would be a Felony charge. in effect Holder has ordered Federal Agents to ignore the laws and commit felonies.

On a side note, Chris Christie is now trying to decide whether to allow medical marijuana for children under 12.
