Reminded me of something that happened back in 77 or 78. A REALLY DUMB something. Reggie Jackson left Baltimore after a short run and made some comments about Baltimore fans. Five of my friends 14-16, and 2 of their 18 and 19 year old brothers decided it would be a good idea to go teach Jackson a lesson. I was asked to go, decided it was a better idea to go crabbing. They got out to the right field fence, and when Jackson was making a play and got a pickup close to the right field fence, they threw darts at him. All the dumbazzes got dragged off to jail.

When NY played Baltimore back then, Jackson was always terrorized. But it didnt whine about it, he kept playing.

They must have been serious! Eggs? Sure. Rotten fruits/vegetables? Sure. Darts? Wow!

Yep. I remember when NY used to play Baltimore, one summer I sold cotton candy at Memorial Stadium, every time Jackson would walk onto the field it would start raining cups, cans, balls of paper, hot dogs, and everything else you could find at a ball park.

Thing about it is Jackson was asked if he was going to press charges, nope. The Stadium management and Earl Weaver got together and decided not to even ban them from the park. Nope, Instead they got to spend part of the summer sweeping memorial stadium parking lot, with push brooms and pulling weeds out of the cracks.
