If he had been one of the idiots standing in the middle of the freeway bringing traffic to a halt and wearing a "Justice for Trayvon" t-shirt , he would not have been harassed and certainly not shoved to the ground

"Brian Sumner is the protester who was shoved and is an WAR VETERAN WHO SERVED IN IRAQ. So vets get harrassed, but homosexuals and criminals and illegal aliens - who stopped traffic on the 10 freeway and in the streets of downtown LA during rush hour - don't get arrested. "

How is that harassment? I know you love posting shit trying to get a rise out of people but this isn't anything. The guy and or group have no legal ability to attach anything to the overpass. When the guy tries to go over to interfere with the highway worker the officer stops hm. He refuses to back up he gets backed up. Then he flops down worse than Lebron James. His being a vet doesn't have anything to do with this other than using it as a crutch to get sympathy.

Flopped down? You must have seen a different angle than posted. I don't know what he did before the video started, so I can't say much, but his feet were sideways when he was pushed. He had nowhere to go but down.

I would also recommend watching all the videos of this incident. There is a part1 and 2 that wasn't posted here. Unfortunately this crappy ipad won't let me copy and paste the links. But showing the whole story won't help you believe the officers were thugs.

What does being a vet have to do with anything?

Drums up emotion.. you know so you attach feelings to the story since the facts don't amount to much.

Or you could realize when you post this stuff that some members will disagree.  Since this is a discussion board not a one sided rant board you can also assume they will post that disagreement to your topic.

You made the post you didn't like the response either intelligently debate it or get over it.

""If you cannot handle the notion that you may be out-maneuvered, out-debated, out-argued and out-thought by those who hold a difference of opinion, you do not need to post in this forum.  When that happens, if you fail to maintain your maturity and resort to petty behavior, action will be taken by the moderators."--Quote from the current events and politics rules.

I get it. You know it goes both ways. If you don't want people to read it; don't post it. Edited by diablo982

Like I earlier stated; If he had been one of the idiots standing in the middle of the freeway bringing traffic to a halt and wearing a "Justice for Trayvon" t-shirt , he would not have been harassed and certainly not shoved to the ground.

But those that don't like anyone being critical of abusive police would also agree that he fell.

Kind of like when the
Critical Mass protesting bicyclist attempted assault on the NYPD officer and was resisting arrest.

clearly that bicyclist ran into the police officer ... at least that's what some on this forum would have you believe.  don't believe what your eyes see; only what the police tell you.

I don't think many people here mind others being critical of abusive police, but it gets annoying when anytime someone gets put on the ground with any more force than it takes to lay a puppy down, they yell out police abuse, and how we are becoming a police state and the police are becoming militarized and they are secretly stockpiling food at the fema camps and are buying armored vehicles to use against innocent citizens.

It's the same stuff every time, we've heard people crying wolf for so long that when a legit incident occurs, all you will see is people being critical of the situation because they are so tired of hearing it.

The man was interfering with a city worker taking down illegally placed signs on an overpass. I have no sympathy for him. He has a right to vocalize his protest but not physically interfere.

The guy was pushed to the ground. I think he'll live.

I also love the way the title throws homosexuals, criminals, and illegals all in the same boat. What if the war vet in question is a homosexual criminal. Can we push him then?

The wheels of justice turn slowly sometimes but I just happened across this post.  Considering that you have a long, well documented history of not being able to get along with your fellow TGO members in heated political and current-events threads and the fact that this is exacerbated by you starting many of them yourself seemingly for the sole purpose of getting a rise, and then call the other members names... we have no place for you here.

Goodbye.

The 1st amenmendment should be defended more vigilantly than even the 2nd.

Should the protestors have tried to get permits? yeah. Would they have been given them? absolutely not.

The fact that we have to ask the govt for permission to do so is the most sickening part of this whole thing.

A police officer should not be shoving people around for excersising their right to free speech.

Why does it matter that it is a vet? Because al these chicken hawks like to preech frredom until someone actually tries it.

The fact that he fought for it and is being treated this way is disgusting.

Police and govt officials have far too much power in this country.

We are very close to being a police state. The more we creep towards democracy the more we will become one.
