LC9 headed to Prescott

Just a heads up if you carry the LC9.

This past weekend, the mags started dropping after each shot. I previously sent about 500 rounds downrange with no issues at all. It was bad enough that I could wiggle and pull the magazine out without pressing the mag release button. A little online research turned up tons of threads on this. It looks like they'll be replacing the mag latch and mag latch spring among other things. Hope it doesn't take long, but I'm glad it's not my primary carry handgun.

Nothing but good things to say about Ruger CS. They were very professional and quick to help.

My LC9 returned from it's journey yesterday afternoon. The invoice showed the mag latch and mag latch spring had been replaced along with the barrel being repaired. I have no idea what was wrong with the barrel. The bad news is the magazine (Made in the USA) still doesn't latch properly. Just life before, I was able to wiggle it free without pressing the mag release button. The other magazine (Made in Italy) stayed put after several attempts to free it. Please understand that I'm not exerting much energy to get the USA mag free. It's a simple twist or pull that might occur during recoil, etc.

Do I give them another call or throw in the towel?

Any link to any kind of a recall or notice on this?  I've had my LC9 just a couple months and a couple hundred rounds with no problem with either mag so far. One mag made in US and other made in Italy.

^ Wow, nothing but good things to say about Ruger CS here. They're moving the CT plant to Raleigh, so maybe we can hand deliver warranty claims to them! Lol

They are moving to Rockingham County. It's near Mayberry and Mount Pilot. I have owned Rugers for many years and have never had any issues. I even have a LC9 which has never failed to go bang, even though the trigger is terrible. I think that Ruger's quality may have gone down because they are working so much overtime trying to meet demand.  There is no excuse for sending out poor quality weapons.

Just received my LC9 from Prescott also. I had serious problems with FTFs and light primer strikes. Also performed some Internet research and noticed this was a problem. They replaced firing pin and spring. They also repaired the barrel which appeared to be re-profiling of the barrel entrance slide. Customer service and turnaround was great.

It's my wife's carry gun and she's lost confidence in the gun (although I ran 50 rounds through it and it was flawless). Fortunately she has a S&W 442 wheel gun as a backup and she's considering using it. I'm considering selling the LC9 and likely won't buy another Ruger handgun (too many other good brands).

I have had two LC9s and other than the terrible trigger they were 100%.  I have tweaked a few mag catches vs magazine slots over the years in various pistols but had not seen that issue with an LC9. I suspect you can fix the LC9 mag catch magazine interface if you want to.  The best thing I ever did with either LC9 was install the modified Galloway Precision trigger bar and hammer, along with an RTK trigger and GP dual recoil spring.  That makes the LC9 a great carry weapon with a crisper shorter trigger, with reduced muzzle flip.   http://gallowayprecision.com/ruger-performance/lc9-performance-parts/

I sold both when I needed money, but didn't sell my Glock 9mms.  Hmmmmm.....?

My confidence also dropped through the floor. Hard to trust a carry piece when your mag falls out after every shot. I recently bought the M&P 40c for carry among other reasons. Adios LC9!

No recalls that I know of. The mag from Italy is much better quality, etc. My mag from the US is the one that has given me fits.
