Took My Wife on a Date

We have a nice restaurant within walking distance to our house (Market House near Jackson Square in Oak Ridge) that my wife and I like to go to. Not only is the food really good, but they have a nice selection of beer. So, my wife and I decided to go on a date to the restaurant last night. We decided to walk so we could partake of the adult beverages.

We had a really nice dinner, drank a bit, laughed a lot, drank some more. It was a great evening. We walked home under the stars, the temperature nearly perfect, holding hands, giggling like a couple of school kids. I'm thinking this night is just going to get better

We get to the house and I see my stupid dog rolling around in the grass. Not just rolling, but plowing the ground with his face. That's when we noticed the smell of the skunk. I go over to the fence and, yep, he got it.

So, now it's 10:30 at night and I'm outside giving my dog a peroxide and baking soda bath. The beer buzz is pretty much gone, and my hands and arms smell like skunk.

Let's just say my dog was not the only one that got skunked last night!

Been there done that.

Who keeps a couple of quarts of hydrogen peroxide, big boxes of baking soda and Dawn on hand? Well I do now.

 You know the irony to that is; the dog will be all cleaned up and smelling good while he licks himself, you on the other hand......well.....

Ive been to Market place twice. Good food, but that has to be the sorriest service Ive ever received at a resturant. Both times...

Tapatalk ate my spelling.

I did add the Dawn, but I forgot to mention it. The recipe I used was two pints hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and two tablespoons of Dawn dishwashing detergent.

Tomato juice takes the smell out.

That doesn't work, the dog just smells like tomatos & skunk

Yep.  Tomatoes and skunk is worse than just skunk.

To the OP - Don't be surprised if the dog isn't the same color today.  Our black dog was brown for a couple weeks after getting skunked.

Yeah, the first time he got skunked, a year ago, I used the Peroxide mixture and I expected it to have made him a platinum blonde, I couldn't tell the difference in his coat color, but I'm color blind and don't see shades very well.

It did make his skin all dried out and I had to use some kind of pet lotion on him.

I forgot to mention in my OP, that he is a Dachshund. So, the long story short is: I was looking for some love, but what I got instead was a small, stinky, wiener.   :stunned:

Yeah, we got a million wiener jokes in my house.
