Mexican cartels recruiting hit men from ranks of US Military

I guess sequestration might make this option a more viable alternative than working as a Greeter in Wal Mart or flipping burgers after the big cut back...

“There has been a persistent gang problem in the military for the past six to eight years,” Burton said, adding that cartels greatly value trained soldiers from the U.S., Mexico and Guatemala as sicarios – hit men...

Burton said some soldiers become corrupted by gangs after joining, while others are gang members who enlist specifically for the training they can get.

Well, that's just nice, isn't it? About the only thing worse, in this case, would be if one of these guys used a gun

from "Fast and Furious" to take out Bryan Terry.

None of this should surprise us... .  It may sadden us a bit; but no surprises... .  Soldiers leaving the military have the same problems as other job seekers; there simply aint any jobs that pay anything.  If ya have combat arm training; i can easily see how ya could be interested in this kind of work.  It's a redux of the indian wars after the civil war.  Ya have the choice of flipping hamburgers, workin for a middle east contractor (...if ya have the prerequisite training and experience...), or workin for drug kingpins down south.

Gangs have been sending members to get military training for years. What better way to train their members on more effective combat techniques?

Sad that non- gang members are enticed to the dark side by a little cash. Maybe the .gov should give the folks a decent salary.

I encountered a MS13 member down in Jalisco about 7 years ago while doing a site seeing tour. My wife and I were sitting next to him and his wife. He was well dressed in slacks and a polo, well spoken too. He spoken English with no accent which led me to believe he was an American. He was of Hispanic descent, although he was obviously a mix, having very light colored skin, very much in shape and had a military appearance and demeanor. His wife was an American, beautiful blonde with blue eyes and such. They looked like a typical, good looking American couple. Me and him BS'd for a while, making fun of some annoying college chicks in our group. About 2 hours into the tour he reached forward exposing an MS13 tat on his right bicep.

I still find it hard to believe looking back on it. I'll tell ya, he was not what one would consider as a gang member. That organization ain't like the Crips and Bloods. These guys are a professional military organization.
