Virginia Drops Reciprocity With Tennessee

The Virginia State Police have added the state of Tennessee back on the list of states they honor regarding legally carrying weapons in Virginia.

Good news for all Tennessee Handgun Permit Holders who live in the Tri-Cites area, and others who travel through Virginia.

Hats off to the legal section of the Tennessee Department of Safety after being notified of the problem. They fixed it without a big delay. Also, the Virginia State Police once they received the letter from T.D.S.. Virginia may have pulled the plug too quick but, at least the problem is over.

I'm glad it has been worked out.

Still can't help to wonder what caused it in the first place and why VA felt the need to act so quickly to drop reciprocity before trying to work things out?

OK, guys, beat me with a tire iron...

What I meant is that VA or TX or whoever can make all the restrictions they want and it will not change my carry. I believe that the States that treat CCW as "would be criminals" are pretty backwards. If some of their lawmakers ever stared down the barrel of a gun from some BG, they might change their minds IF they survived.

I think it's a shame VA has done it, and,I'dl do anything to help change it back. There are not enough LEGAL and responsible CCWs.

As for my attitude, I worked a long time as an LEO 12 years in GA and 21 years in Federal. You make a lot of enemies during that time. I EARNED the right to carry in VA or anywhere else and VA cannot take that away from me. (And, that is what I meant by does not matter to me). I respect each and everyone of you guys. You carry for protection and most of you would not hesitate to assist if needed. You can bet, just as in the past 33 years I WILL be there if you need it.

And, it's not just federal LEO Carry. Under the law ALL LEOs retired in good standing can carry....

Thanks for clearing that up.

You do have to wonder what happened to get the Virginia folks so confused.

I'm not certain anyhting has to 'happen' to cause confusion amongst Virginians.

Oh wait, I live in Tennessee, I have no room to talk...

Never mind... hehe
