I am in Jackson and the other guy is in Knoxville.

There is a trade proposed, but I am not sure how to go about the trade other than ftf.

Is there some other way that people do this?

Do they ship them to FFLs as third parties? Is ftf the only way?

It requires some trust on both sides.  You ship your gun to him, he ships his to you.  FFL's are not required within the state.

Yep. An ideal situation would be that one of you was an established member on here with good feedback. If you are the new guy don't be offended if he wants you to ship first. I did this with a member before and it went smoothly. It's all about trust though, and all of my transactions on here have been great for what it's worth.

I wouldn't be to very worried with shipping it between with established members here. but to CYA correspond via emai save the other persons name email phone number address etc.  Ship it with signature confirmation.  That way worst case you have the ability to file a police report for it.

Note there is no longer a way to ship handguns between non licensed persons, assuming you follow the law in the case of USPS and the respective TOS of FedEx and UPS.
