"Tactical" Pants (5.11 Dress/Khaki/Cargo/etc)

I wouldn't consider those for what hes asking for two reasons. One they aren't really a tactical pant as much as a work pant. Which leads to my second point. They are very heavily built. Like way overbuilt for an office pant, and while they are great for manual labor, I dont think they would fit in or be comfy for office attire.

Tapatalk ate my spelling.

They are overbuilt BUT they are very comfy for what they are. I wear mine at my 13 hour a day office job but I also work in a parts dept so they don't get too picky with our apparel choice in all honesty, lol. If you need a pair that can take a lickin and keep on tickin, get them, they have cargo pockets in the cargo pockets, lol. :P

Yeah I have a set that I use, but I work construction and a bunch of other manual labor stuff. They are great for that, just didnt think theybwould make good office attire

Just bought [5] of the LA Police Gear Operator Tactical Pants w/ Elastic Waistband. Never ordered pants on the internet before, nor anything from LAPG. I like the style, I just hope they fit correctly. Should be able to unload them on here though if I needed a different size I suppose. Thanks everyone!

I had already looked at most of the 5.11/Blackhawk/etc (various brand names), but I didn't even know about the LAPG ones. Reviews all seem to be great for them. I have to admit, being able to buy five pairs of those instead of roughly 2 from the other companies was certainly a plus!

I've got a couple pair of Tru Spec pants, I think that they're pretty decent for the money, I've got over a dozen pairs of Tricor pants that are very well made & extremely durable, I'd put them up there with the USGI stuff I was issued.

As an added bonus Tricor pants are made right here in TN I believe, anyway I don't think that I have any 5.11, Blackhawk or Popper pants though.

Tricor? That's who our pants at the place I work were made by. The inmates at tricor. They make our uniform shirts also.

Got my LAPG Operator Pants in today. I like them, they have lots of pockets and stuff. However, one thing that I am learning to dislike about them is it seems when I sit down that my holster wants to slide with the pants a bit down my hip. Then when I stand up they are both lower than they should be. I purchased a High Noon Holsters gun belt a few years back but got skinnier so started wearing my Spec-Ops BDU belt. Well, the BDU belt works great with these pants, but compared to jeans, the BDU fabric doesn't seem to want to support a holster at all. Thus my BDU belt and LAPG BDU's seem to be a less than optimal setup for IWB carry.

Well, it is very  difficult for me to say. I have several pairs of 38-30 jeans. I have lost around 35lbs in the last 9 months or so. Now the 38's are too big. I didn't really think I was a 34-30 yet, so I ordered the 36-30's from LAPG. They fit me perfectly. I did get the ones with elastic in the waistband (not sure if I would have liked the others more, wish I would have ordered a pair of each initially then ordered a few more). The elastic waistband seems it would be more forgiving if you have pants larger than you need. Wearing them at work right now. My first thoughts:

  • Comfortable (+)
  • Lightweight (+)
  • Lots of Pockets (+)
  • Very fairly priced (+)
  • Noisy (-)
  • Back pocket? Can a wallet fit in there? (-)

I like them. Overall they may be confusing me a bit right now, because I am trying to figure out the most optimal way to stuff my pockets with stuff. It's probably a good thing I cannot put my wallet in my back pocket, it will probably be better for my back sitting at work. I have plans to probably purchase some sort of front pocket wallet or something. Also, been thinking of redoing my key chain and now is the perfect time. I don't know what I want yet but it has a nice D-ring in the front above one of the smaller pockets. Seems like it would be a good place for something of this sort:)

I got some Tru Specs a couple of years ago.  I haven't worn a pair of blue jeans since.  Big difference in comfort and convenience and the Tru Specs have held up very well.

I have a couple pair of 511 tactical pants. The label says 100% nylon. The are NOT cool. They are definitely hotter than cotton khaki pants I usually wear. I don't wear jeans so I can't compare them to jeans. I wear the 511s a lot in winter because they are much warmer. They are wind resistant and block the cold air better than other pants. They are also stain resistant and the pockets are deep enough to carry in front or rear pocket.

Can't fit your wallet in the back pocket?  Care to elaborate?

Well, it will fit in there if I do not have my holster, but with my kydex IWB holster it sits about right where the furthest right side of the wallet would sit. Since it is the nylon/cotton blend instead of jean material, it offers no resistance against the kydex and allows the kydex to "takeup the space" of where the wallet would sit. Let me also note that I am carrying the Spec-Ops Brand T.H.E Wallet, and it is not small. I used to really like my T.H.E. Wallet, but I am thinking of replacing it soon with something like this:

Or any one of these:

But once again, to simply answer your question, yes the wallet fits. But I'll have to carrying a bit counterclockwise moreso to get it to work. I generally carry at about 4:00-5:00 on the hip, but I think it'll work if I go about 3:00.

I carry my wallet on the left and my gun on the right.

I did the same thing when I got my HCP. Took me a while to get used to it, but I can't imagine going back now.

That's funny. I did the same, carried my wallet on right side for 15 years then started carrying a gun and switched.

I've always carried my wallet on the left... I'm left handed. The switch for me was shooting right handed. Edited by peejman

Ok, been wearing these LAPG Operators for a few days now. I'll say, they are quite comfortable. Monday I found room to mow in between rain. It was very humid and I'll sweat on a snowy day. Thus, the paints were drenched by the time I finished. The difference was that when I normally wear jeans while working, the jeans soak up the sweat and get heavier and stick to you. These LAPG Operators (as well as any pants made of similar material of course), even though they were soaked they didn't quite stick to me like jeans do when soaked with sweat. This made them very much more comfortable than the jeans while working.

Beginning to love the placements of all the pockets. However, I'll say two things that have slightly disappointing me. Within 2 hours of wearing my black pair, the main button nearly tore off. Now, the thread is still holding the button on, but it is literally there by a thread. It will be a quick fix, but disappointing for 2 hour long paints. Yesterday I noticed the navy pair's button was loose so I was extremely careful with it.

Today I put the "sierra" colored ones. Button seems ok on them but I noticed they are longer than the others. I can wear the others without shoes or boots and the length is just right. These the legs go a bit below my heel and gets very annoying without shoes on.

Overall I am still very satisfied. They are, after all, $20 pants. I don't mind tailoring a thing or two, but it would have also been nice for them to have went several weeks/months without needing any modification.

I will also say that I am quite a fan of the elastic waistband. It keeps them looking neat regardless of whether I have a holster on. Inelastic pants generally bunch up if they fit with a holster but you aren't wearing one.

For anyone that may have had reservations about LAPG or the pants I purchased, be concerned no more!

I sent a very simple and polite email this morning to LAPG regarding the above mentioned issues. I was not requesting anything but rather informing them that I had an issue, and that perhaps their quality control be considered. I told them I was very satisfied still and loved the paints, and at $20 I did not mind a little tailoring myself.

Received an email within an hour offering replacement for the above mentioned 3 pairs, and just now I recieved an "order confirmation" totaling $0. They just hooked me line and sinker as a customer for a very, very long time. I just wish they were located somewhere other than California, and although the pants are nice, I do wish they were USA made. They wouldn't be $20 then though.
