S&W M&P fullsize holsters for outer waistband ?

Recommended Posts

I just got a S&W M&P40fullsize and am looking for an outer waistband belt holster. I got a Tagua , but stupid me didnt look that closely and realized that the holster covers the magazine release button. Normally this would be good , but with just the right amount of pressure the holster will push the mag release and the mag will come out. So what are you guys using for an outer waist abdn holster for the M&P ? Below is a pic of the one I just bought and am now having to sell  DOH !!! I did think about cutting the leather around the button .

For OWB, the very best Kydex holster on the market is the RCS Phantom.

I've been using one since 2008.  I've yet to see another OWB that conceals effectively with just a t-shirt.  Great piece of gear, and no wait these days.  I know guys that waited 3-4 months for theirs not that long ago.

Raven or any of the clones. Zero Concealment, NTac, Sharktac, Atomic Dog, Crown all make Raven style holster without the wait.
I personally like the Zero myself. Turnaround is under 30 daddy's and you can customise almost every aspect including color for $60. I've been using mine for several years now and it rides high and tight better than anything else I've ever used.

I was using the same one you have now and never had a single problem with the mag release. Now I am using a fobus paddle holster and love it.

Well I just went back and got a refund , Thanks Guns and Leather ! Great guys and a great vender on here too ! . I bit the bullet and went with the high priced Galco Combat Master . It maybe high in price but their products have never failed me . Look cosely at the magazine release button on how it is not covered. This is good and bad . It was bad on my last purchase of a holster since the slightest pressure would eject it . On this holster there is nothing firm like leather or plastic to push against it to eject the magazine. So for me the Galco wins. I know there are other cheaper holsters out there but this works and it works great . Just please make sure when you choose a holster that you check all aspects of it and what could go wrong . This cost me some gas since I live so far away but it was worth it ! Here are the pics of it .

...  I did think about cutting the leather around the button.

That was going to be my suggestion.

I have a kydex Blade Tech for OWB (but I use it for IDPA competition). I can recommend a CrossBreed IWB
