why conservative radio does well?

Just had someone here at the hotel in Miami inform me that the only reason liberal radio fails and conservative talk radio does well, is because all liberals have jobs and can't spend the day listening to the radio.

As you can imagine, a small bit of cheap waffle almost shot out my nose from hysterically laughing.

So, as soon as you bums go out and get jobs, Rush, Hannity and the likes are going off-air.

Radio is a thinking persons medium, conservatives have a more intellectual mind and their attention is held by thought not propaganda. Liberals tend to do well on the television because they rely on propaganda to get their message out, Propaganda is more  visual and a weak form of brain washing. It gives the weak minded folks something to look at. I'm surprised that there hasn't been an Obama/MSNBC/CNN/ABC/NBC and CBS coloring book and crayons sent out in a free mailer yet. Twitter is a dangerous thing, Any medium that allows anybody to transmit phone numbers, addresses or any other personal data across to the masses is a bad thing in my opinion. To many morons send this stuff out by looking up information on the internet without verification and all it takes is one unhinged individual or group to go out and attack the wrong people (or even the right people) their home or even their kids.

So in short.

Conservative Talk Radio = thought.

Liberal Television = weak minds.

Twitter= No thought what so ever. Twitter is for twits that can only keep one sentence of thought in their head at a time.

As unsexy as it sounds, I think it's really more about demographics than ideology.  Radio is an older medium and draws an older audience.  Talk radio listeners as a subset skew yet older.  Political talk radio draws an even older demo relative to other talk radio.  Older generally equates to "conservative."

Generally eschewing empirical data lest it get in the way of one of my theories, I nevertheless did a quick search on Twitter followers.  Twitter = newer media = younger demographics and younger generally equating to "liberal."

Rush Limbaugh --> < 250,000

Rachel Maddow --> a tad over 2.6 million

CNN breaking news --> ~12 million

Fox News --> ~3 million

My $0.02.

Rush Limbaugh --> < 250,000     Followers with jobs: 249,999

Rachel Maddow --> a tad over 2.6 million    Followers with jobs: 3

CNN breaking news --> ~12 million    Followers with jobs:  7

Fox News --> ~3 million  Followers with jobs: 2,999,998

Yes, Michael Berry is a good voice on the radio. I too like Levin but I can only take him in small doses. I think he is smart as hell but he stays to angry. My blood pressure just can't deal with it.

Conservative ideology has always had the benefit of status quo comfort. They literally can claim a majority of people who are not politically inclined as within their ranks. Liberals have always faced a threshold, where not only do they have to provide a good idea, they have to also explain how the change is dramatically better than the way things have been. The inherent stubbornness of conservative ideology forces liberals to either be irrelevant or radical. And radical on radio is too confrontational for long drives.

Yes, liberalism cannot claim status quo as societies who embrace it spiral downward into oblivion...after the violent coup they stage to gain control. From the ashes of fallen liberal utopias, conservative values such as self-reliance, humility, and entrepreneurialism again gain favor until liberal sloth and avarice tear the whole thing down again (in an instant). It is cyclical. Liberalism is the weekend bender that squanders all that was gained throughout the week of hard work.

You can watch this excellent clip from "John Adams" http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cL5S0DIXk2M and extrapolate on down to how his great-great grandchildren can study bureaucracy, entitlements, and social justice. There is no status quo in a flushing toilet or liberalism. Once the process starts, everything goes faster and faster down the drain. Edited by atlas3025

NO because liberal radio does bad because the liberals are out spending the money conservatives earn
