well, I finally went down to the TNDOS office today and applied for my HCP. I have jumped through all of the governments hoops, I sat, I fetched, and I even barked on command. now all I have to do is wait. once I have the governments permission to excersice my second ammendment rights, I'll get started on getting my FSEP (free speech expression permit)

And then when you're done waiting, you get to wait some more, followed by additional waiting, until finally it's time for you do just a little more waiting.

Another Angry American... I love it. Welcome to the Red, White & Blue Side!! By the way, your PRO-1A Permit is currently being processed at the ACLU office. Your approximate wait time is somewhere between infinity and beyond.

believe me, angry doesn't begin to describe it, but that's a different story for a different day.

as for the 1A permit, I'll not hold my breath on it, as it's taken me 27 years to be able to excersice my right to keep and bear arms.

but at least now, all I have to do is patiently (;)) sit back and wait.. and wait.. and wait for my HCP to arrive.

one thing interesting struck me in the back of the head while sitting in line at the DOS silently fuming about the fact that I was going to have to wait three months or better...

when you get your license, it takes you 5? 10? minutes to get it printed.

when you buy a gun, it takes 5? 10? minutes to run the NICS check.

it took me all of 5 minutes to get fingerprinted.

5 minutes + 10 minutes + 10 minutes = 3-4 months?

but at least they were prompt in taking my money... it was removed from my hands so quick I was worried that I would have no fingerprints left to take...

Yep. There's an FBI background check which takes a good bit of time. There are 3 BG checks you must pass, not just a simple TICS/NICS check.
