Think it can't happen in our country?

It is happening in Cyprus. It will more than likey follow in Italy Spain and Portugal.

Then when Europe goes down after its inability to fund the EU, Germany being the

only strong country amongst the members, we will see China and Japan take a big

dive into the abyss. Where do you think we lay in all that? I'd say somewhere in the

middle.

All of it caused by fiat money and bad liberal politics.

Not only can it happen here but I'm convinced that it will happen here...the only real unknown for me at this point is "when".

That's one of the reasons, as I've shard in some other threads, that "who" runs or gets elected in 2014 or beyond is really immaterial at this because it's too late to change that. Our currency is backed by nothing except a promise to pay but we can't pay...we can't even limit our spending to our tax revenues. Between spending over 140% percent of revenues and monetizing our debt it's a house of cards that must collapse

It matters who is elected in 2014 because the Dems, believe it or not, can still do more damage than collapsing the economy. The world will go on after it happens, but with what means to survive is the question. You can bet your butt that if the Dems sweep 2014 there WILL be vast gun control legislation passed which will probably look like registration, and we know where that road will lead to, especially if there is a collapse.

With a large number of Dems doing their part for the war on guns, and the stagnant economy, I don't see the Dems sweeping anything in 2014.

Yeah; well...considering the approval ratings and even worse economy then than now, Republicans should have been able to exhume Richard Nixon, throw some makeup on him and run him and win the 2012 election but enough people stayed home that the socialist who wanted to fundamentally transform America (and just about has) is still in the Oval Office (except for when he's on one of his $100 Billion dollar vacations.

Right now, until the end of September, Republicans in the house have the real ability (and probably the last chance) to stop Obamacare...the last real nail in the coffin of the country formerly known as The United States of America; the last step before it becomes just another socialist democracy. Once that is implemented there will be no turning back. What are the Republicans doing? Most of them are too damn scared of not getting reelected to do not only what they know is the right thing to do but in many cases, were elected because they specifically promised to stop Obamacare. Someone tell me again what difference which party being in power actually makes?

Will Democrats sweep the 2014 elections?  Probably not; but I'd bet they'll make significant inroads.

I really don't care which party gains in 2014 nor do I believe it will make any difference because nothing will stop the financial collapse from coming (unless something other than financial kicks it off first).

Actually the bank of Cypress depositors came out ahead. Just a month ago they were going to lose it all. Until the politicians realized they were taking (taxing) their deposits at rates above 100%. Dont "think" it cant happen, it is happening. Obama wants to tax and limit 401K and other Retirement Fund money. And from the talk, sounds like they might just do it. Take your money from your bank account or take money from your retirement, not a whole lot of difference, they are still taking your money.

Of course public (Government Employee) retirement funds will be exempt.

The Republicrats are not going to kill Obamacare. The House leadership has already said as much. They want to kill "The parts that Americans disagree with". I gues they didnt get the memo. 78% of Americans disagreed with ALL OF IT. Socializing our medical system a little or a lot is still socializing our medical system.

I voted for Nixon twice and had no regrets.  Gladly take 'tricky dick' over the Ohole any-day.

As far as what happens in 2014 I see no reason why dems would lose any seats, on the contrary they might just gain.

The republican party is a fubar'd mess and they are not winning the hearts and minds of young voters.  If they quit harping on gays and abortion they might do very well, but I don't see that happening.

They are not winning the hearts and minds of middle-aged or geezer voters either. They are so tone-deaf they can't even do a proper job of preaching to the choir!

Obamacare ring a bell?

Hi 6.8

I'm just feeling ornery, but do ya think McCainCare would have been a less stinky pile? If McCain had been elected, McCainCare would have shortly been followed up by successful passage of the McCainNesty immigration bill (because republicans would close ranks and support their presadunce). Not to mention our prompt invasion of at least a half dozen insignificant cesspool nations we have no business intervening in. :)

Am purt sure McCain would have done as big and stoopid a bailout as did Obama. Would McCain have kept the NSA more in-check? Hell no, McCain would demand the NSA monitor MORE data, not less.

It might have been WORSE than Obama (and we both agree Obama has been a disaster)!

Would we have ever have had McCainCare?

Alternate history is hardly an exact science, but am purt sure the McCainCare would have come about. Others may disagree. Just look at that RINO. How could we have not had McCainCare?

Maybe we would have got McCainNesty before McCainCare because he has historically been so fond of amnesty. Maybe McCainCare would have been an attention diversion to get folks minds off all the piss-ant failed states we had invaded for "humanitarian purposes". Dunno. :)

I seriously doubt we would have had a McCainCare. No way for enough Republicans to agree on

that much socialism, and, besides, the lobbyists would have dried up too fast. They feed the kitty

for most all political machines.

McCain would have been a lousy prez, just like he is a lousy senator, but he could make that big a

splash with enough Republicans. Now that amnesty thing. Nah. If he would have been elected, he

would probably have taken the ship down, also, but it would be with something else, like a war with

Iran, but I doubt he would have given us McCainCare. It wasn't anything on a Republican platform.

Only a liberal wet dream brought us Obamacare.

I'm not saying McCain would do anything right or wrong, just the odds of any Republican enacting

the ultimate in socialism, on top of the welfare state, would be approaching zero.

You may be right about the odds of a Republican working to pass an obamacare type bill would be slim, but we aren't talking about a Republican. We are talking about McCain.

McCain would have reached across the aisle and been a Maverick in working with the Dems to get McCaincare passed. Edited by Chucktshoes

That's true, but the topic was being brought up by the bad actors, at the time. There is no Republican version of

Obamacare sitting in a desk drawer waiting for an orgasmic moment to be sprung like this one was. Even the

RINO's were against it. That bill was only tendered when there was a pathway to get it passed by the commies.

It's sole intent is to bring this country to it's knees.

If we want to continue the argument that the Republicans are on the same path, only a slower one, which I agree,

we can't just twist it into saying they are exactly the same as the Democrats. Maybe close enough, from time to time,

but both group's base ideology is different.

Who knows...we might have gotten some real healthcare insurance reform that made a positive difference.

McCain is enough of a political animal that he likely would have at least gone along with a decent idea had it been presented to him (but I doubt he would have spearheaded anything like that).

Most of us know we have some serious problems with how healthcare is delivered and especially how it's paid for; it needs some reform - just not s government takeover.

Guest 6.8 AR

You can't get health care reform by putting more restrictions and limitations from the government to the

private insurance companies, and make hospitals take government handouts(Medicare, etc). When you force

insurance into a situation of abuse by causing artificial increased rates to cover the cost of the non-covered,

you artificially inflate everyone's costs. Crap flows all the way downhill to the taxpayer and the insurance payer.

If you can't afford the insurance, I can't help you any more. If the doctor can't pay his bills, he will go elsewhere,

or do something else, like go to a cash based system, which many are starting to do.

The only thing Obamacare will succeed in doing is to confiscate the wealth of a nation and get the nation back to

a zero sum game that the liberals so believe in. That will limit resources and will exclude patients, similar to what

the current scheme is doing, but much worse. Our insurance will be like going to the Post Office. They have

been bankrupt for how many years?

There is the stated base ideologies, and there is the actual base ideology. The stated base ideologies do differ, maybe not as much as some would believe, but it is significant. The actual basis of both parties is to maintain and increase power and wealth for the members of the oligarchal ruling class.

No. There are many groups in both main parties, and a lot of them disagree with the others. The trouble with both

main parties is not their stated ideologies, but their corrupted versions of leaders. Consolidation of ideals is the only

way any political party can get a hold on power, right or wrong, and a lot of times it is wrong, Republican or Democrat.

that Potomac Fever people always refer to is the problem. There is a juggernaut called the federal government that

entices weak pols into becoming part of the problem. Some stronger pols play the game, but still don't get entrapped

by it. I didn't say I liked the setup any more than you, but it is still there and it has to be taken apart before the beast

gets to take you and I apart.

I think the Republican Party is dead, by the way, and something will change within a couple more election cycles. The

Roves of the political world win some battles for the RINO's but they are being exposed every day. Some pols are

starting to see they have to play games they aren't comfortable with, and are going to play them with their own set of

rules attacdhed. I think Paul is one of them. I don't think he has his heart in anything McCain or Graham has. There is

a big struggle in the Republican Party, and Cruz and Paul will get any and every criticism from the media you wish to

see.

This is an anomaly from Paul. I don't read that much into it. Cruz is unbreakable. His character is strong.

I don't think we have a couple of election cycles left from the standpoint of changing our current course.
