I don't know a whole lot about Obama care, but I'm retired and pay over 600.00 a month on health care through Fed. Bluecross/ Blueshield. Will Obama care help me?

Nope! Even if it did, it wouldn't last long, Dave. Obamacare is nothing more than a Ponzi scheme to rob

this country of all its treasure. It will harm everyone's healthcare.

ObamaCare is already 90% funded by the law itself, and this whole push  won't succeed to deny the rest.

The only thing that will change it is when it is shown as a total failure, then it will be changed in Congress. If Dems control both houses, it will become the one payer plan, 100% government healthcare, which is what most of them wanted from the gitgo.

I've always enjoyed his sense of reality.

Truth is the only way to provide health care to everyone is it be entirely funded by the government, not some voodoo ecomonics and monetary schemes.

Signed, but it won't do any good.  Republicans won't defund Obamacare.  They won't kill it because they need to keep it as the central issue of their 2014 and 2016 reelection campaigns.

I can see the solicitations now.

"Obamacare is destroying this country, and it has to be defunded/repealed.  This will be the most important election of our lives, and we have to keep committed conservatives like Senator X or Representative X in office.  Please send your generous contribution so that we can defund/repeal this monstrosity, and return freedom to the American people."

My answer.  F*** them.  They should have never let it get this far in the first place.

House took its 40th anti-Obamacare vote today before going home -- it's just become laughable, a SNL skit, won't be negated or repealed with legislation until down the road when it totally fails, and enough Dems finally agree it's a voter liability.

As far as the defunding part, seems that effort won't really nix the brunt of it at all, only screw it up worse than it will already be, hurting of course just the average citizen -- but IF there is a gummit shut down over it, that could be GOP's death knell for '14 and '16, just handing another loaded gun to the Dems.

Since you bothered to open the thread did you bother to sign the petition?

If not, why bother.

Don't see your point. Of course I didn't sign the petition because I believe it's overall helpful to the Dems if it's at all influential in shutting down government, even for just a few days.

Doesn't look like it will be so far though, only 185K, even though Cruz has been touting it on every media outlet he can get exposure.

The current Federal Government, including both parties, has no interest whatsoever in what people think. They only worry about telephone calls from their campaign supporters (i.e. Bribe payers). You will vote for whomever the elites pick to run, primarily because you have absolutely nothing to do with their selection. Government of the people, by the people and for the people never actually got off the ground. It died under Hamilton and Adams during the early 1790's. We today have confused political parties for "the people". We blindly follow party hacks and vote as we are told. Life here is still good because we still have a semblance of democracy at the local levels, but I don't know how long that is going to last.

Just a simple poll, if you don't care nothing about it, why complain?

Whatever.

What complaint? I cared enough to state my opinion on the matter. I believe that's within the TOS here.

Here are the ten most important points that I tell my patients:

  1. Your private insurance premiums will cost more and more each year.
  2. You will lose the choices and flexibility in health insurance policies that we have had available up until now.
  3. As reimbursements continue to drop, fewer and fewer doctors will take Medicare (for those 65 and older) or Medicaid (people younger than 65).
  4. Fewer doctors accepting Medicare and Medicaid causes an increase in wait times for appointments and a decrease in the numbers and types of specialists available on these plans. Consumers would be wise to line up their doctors now.
  5. Studies from various organizations and states have consistently shown thatMedicaid recipients have longer waits for medical care, fewer options for specialists, poorer medical outcomes, and die sooner after surgeries than people with no health insurance at all. Yet an increasing number of Americans will be forced into this second-class medical care.
  6. As more people enter the taxpayer-funded plans (Medicare and Medicaid) instead of paying for private insurance, the costs to provide this increased medical care and medications will escalate, leading to higher taxes.
  7. With no eligibility verifications in place, millions of people who are in the US illegally will be able to access taxpayer-funded medical services, making longer lines, longer wait times, and less money available for medical care for American citizens… unless taxes are increased even more.
  8. Higher expenditures to provide medical services lead to rationing of medical care and treatment options to reduce costs. This is the mandated function of the Independent Payment Advisory Board: to cut costs by deciding which types of medical services to allow… or disallow.
  9. Under current regulations, if medical care is denied by Medicare, then a patient is not allowed to pay cash to a Medicare-contracted physician or hospital or other health professional. Patients who need medical care that is denied under Medicare or Medicaid will find themselves having to either: 1) look for an independent physician or hospital (quite rare these days); or 2) go outside the USA for treatment.
  10. Expect a loss of medical privacy. Beginning in 2014, if you participate in government health insurance, your health records will be sent to a centralized federal database, with or without your consent.
