I am no expert and know no more details than anyone else but if you read the articles coming out about this and what his neighbors say doesnt it sound almost exactly like the articles Chris Benoit and a lot of other wrestlers and people on steroids? Here you have a guy who is a bodybuilder, on steroids. The descriptions are the same, really nice one minute, po'd at the world the next. Complains, mad, about everything, mad cause he loses his hair because of steroids. He gets mad at "heat" from a tanning booth?

Mad at women, they are no good. Had problems with women. Who hasnt? And visa versa? He isnt an ugly guy, he is in shape, and I know women who PREFER a chrome dome.

If I were to take an SWAG at it, I would say he took those steroids and just went off. Thats only based on what I have read about roid rage and seen some of the effects of people on them going off.

A lot of wrestlers all said the same thing, on steroids they cannot control their emotions among the other many negative health effects.

It has been used, ineffectively, as a defense to murder before.

Bottom line, you are responsible for your actions as well as the actions resulting from putting chemicals into your body. I can't go do 3 lines of coke, then go on a shooting spree and blame it on the drugs. I've known dozens of guys who juiced. For some of them it affected their personality, making them act like chicks at one point then have violent outbursts at another. I can't say that their behavior was excusable because it was the roids making them act that way; they're the ones that were injecting themselves.

To make the argument emotional for a second, if some roid rager is having an episode and your mother/wife/daughter happens to be in the vicinity, does something to upset him which results in him choking her to death, should we demonize a chemical or the POS that put the chemical in his own body knowing the effects?

My answer is that Beniot should be put feet first into a woodchipper and used for chum during Shark Week. Edited by TMF

Benoit is already dead, killed himself. But I do agree with you 100%, anything you put into your system, and YOU KNOW what the effects will be, thats your responsibility. And whatever you do, you are responsible for your own actions.

My actual point (Not spelled out, figured it would be kinda obvious) is that drugs do have side effects. And the Steroid issue is well known and researched.

Benoit used a rope. This guy used a gun. What do you think will be blamed? The laws allowing gun ownership and the gun itself or the fact that this guy put junk in his body that caused a rage or something along those lines?

Benoit bound his wife and strangled her, strangled his son with a rope then hung himself. But no one blamed the rope. How long before we see the gun getting blamed, and the laws?

We can still woodchip him though.

I look at the arguments defending a person's actions by blaming controlled substances and the tools of murder in the same light a wife /girlfriend would look at a cheating partner. I realize some chicks are dumb enough to accept these excuses, but most aren't and the ones that are usually have a stake in the game while knowing in the back of their mind its BS.

The argument blaming the controlled substance is like a cheating spouse saying he was drunk, so can't be held accountable for his actions. I don't know too many women who would buy that one. At a minimum, I don't see that holding up in court.

The argument blaming guns is like a cheating spouse blaming his penis. Actually, the penis argument would be more sensible since natural chemical reactions occur when an attractive woman makes clear her intent for intercourse, even if you don't want to. Since the gun is not biologically attached to you, it is hard to argue that possession of a gun made you murder.

"Roid Rage".  Huh.  Until I started reading the OP, I was wondering why the guy didn't just get some Preparation H.  Steroids never crossed my mind.

My first couple of questions would be what was he taking, and how much was he taking.  Is it possible that steroids could have pushed him over the edge?  Maybe, but I highly doubt it.  I think what we had here was a sexually-frustrated asshole with anger management issues, nothing more.
