Got something I have been wanting for a very long time

Special thanks to the team over at Out Post Armory for hooking me up with this.

I was able to pick up a couple boxes of .22 Mag as you will see in the picture.

I also happened to grab up a PMR 30 and some extra mags to go with them.

For those that don't know, PMR 30 by Kel Tec holds 30 .22 magnums.

I felt like I had just won the lottery when they called me Wednesday afternoon and told me they had it.

I figured if anyone could get one they could.

I really, really wish they would make one in 22lr. If they did they would sell more than they could produce, wait a minute that is the case with anything they "produce".

Those things are so light it is amazing. Great looking piece.

I paid just a little over msrp, but not much.  Lets say it was very reasonable.   on Gun Broker they go for 800 to 1200.

I will say I was very happy with my purchase price.

That's all that matters. I was just wondering if they had settled down yet.

What's the going rate for .22mag ammo and is it available?

Now, ammo is still what I feel is double price from the panic buying.

Also they only had .22 for people buying guns, none on the shelves.

As for the Five-Seven.

Did not know about it.

Just checked a few places and found a good youtube video comparing the 2.

I believe between them the PMR is what I needed.

Now that you have a Kel Tec, check out www.TheKTOG.org

It's a forum for Kel Tec owners with a sub-forum for the PMR-30... optics, holsters, mods, etc.

Congratulations on the PMR! I love mine. I think you'll be very happy with it. And you got the tan/FDE model! Now you need a black and a grey one to go with it.

Seriously though, I do like the pistol. Great range gun and very fun to play with. Don't have as much love for loading the mags though. Getting the last 5 or so rounds in can be a real test of your thumbs and patience with some of the mags though.

Evidently not all are that tough, but mine are.

As far as ammo, mine seems to like the CCI and Hornady best. But runs anything I put thru it. Pretty accurate too. Maybe not a completion gun, but good. And yes, mine still has the occasional keyhole/tumbling round. Even after the barrel swap that was supposed to cure it.

I'm not downing the little pistol at all, I've had several offers to buy mine; but I choose to keep it. I like it enough not to want to pay some of the high prices that a lot of dealers think they are worth should I have to replace it. And I sure would regret if I sold it.

I have about 430 or so in mine as I got it just as the hype and the prices went up.

Are the dealers and KT still recommending not to use the Fiochi 22mag rounds? I haven't heard lately. That was supposedly the reason for the initial keyholing issues, When I first started looking at the PMR, I started buying ammo for it. Then at 10-14 a box. Then bought several 500 round bricks of the Fiochi at a really good price. Then the comments against Fioch started and I went to CCI, Hornady, and Winchester; trying to get a couple every time I went to WallyWorld.

Sure glad I did that!

Anyway, Congrats again. Glad you got it.

Last I heard they recommended against Fiochi and recommened CCI Maxi Mags I believe, I believe 40 grain

I will most likely run CCI,hornady, and winchester as those are my favorite brands.

Not sure on the price but over the last 3 months i have probably been into Outpost 25 times or a little more and i would say at least 18 of the times, I saw .22mag on the shelf. It is always humerus to see some greedy soul grab their buddy and run over to grab all they can only for the buddy to read that they were .22mag or .22Long instead of .22lr. Anyways based on my visits .22mag has had pretty consistent availability at Outpost unless they just put it out when they see me coming (I don't own anything to run it in).

Congrats on the PMR! I would love to have one some day. Looking forward to a range report.

From postings here, and what I hear from others; it's still hit or miss on finding ammo in stores. Some have it. Some don't. Prices seem to be all over the board.

I wouldn't drive to the Outpost from my home unless I was totally out of ammo. Thankfully I'm not, yet.

Hoping, like others; to get a little as it comes available at a reasonable price.

But thanks very much for the comments on finding some.

For me, Out Post Armory is over 2 and half hour drive.  Anytime I am in Nashville a couple times a year lately on my return home I go out of my way to stop in.  I will be back out their in August again.

I will probably at the least pick up some more mags and try to order something else.

You guys are killing me.... I'm trying really hard to not make any more purchases for the rest of this year. Every time I turn around one of these is on the web or in a magazine advertisement.

It's like the gun universe is trying to send me a message.

Here is a solution for you,  Put your self on a waiting list for a PMR 30 , KSG, or RMR 30 and you will probably wait out the rest of this year before you find one to buy.

I was on this waiting list since last December. Been on other PMR lists for like 2 years.
