Well, I have a bunch of this stuff, I stocked up back when it $52 a 200 pack. Now its up to $76...but at least its back in stock. It is AEBP223g on federal's website, a 50gr fbhp. I won't personally replace my stock when i shoot it up, but comparably, its still pretty cheap.

Walmart also has a 100 round pack of federal .223 55gr fmj for $39 (in stock now), FYI. And some UMC value packs that I couldn't see the price of. I haven't bought or shot any of the ball, but its probably pretty decent.

I did some optic switching and wound up sticking my 4-12 redfield on the bigger 20" upper (wilde chamber, chrome lined barrel, 1 in 9). Went out today and shot another 120 rounds of the wally through it and came up with these benchmarks:

1. 5 (3 shot) groups at 50 yards, average about .75-.80"

2. 20 rounds at 100 yards, 2.58" (2 flyers. Could knock an easy 1/2" off without em).

3. 10 rounds at 200 yards, 3.90" (2 flyers)

4. 2 (5 shot) groups at 300 yards went 6" and 7.5".

5. 20 rounds rapid fire at 300 on a steel plate...steel music.

It's about the best you can do for off the shelf target ammo on the cheap, imo. All groups shot over the top of a tool box with no rear support bag and 50 yard shot prone off a bipod. So with a real rest and/or a match grade barrel i'm sure they'd tighten up a little...and probably push MOA.
