NUKEMAP3D (Pretty cool)

I nuked all the places I have lived except where I grew up (30 miles from D.C, already know what would happen, why we had fallout shelters and weekly Nuke drills in elementary school), interesting that a .5 ton yield nuclear weapon detonated in Clinton, MS would not even reach the Pearl River but would wipe out the whole town.

"The simulator lets you choose from a wide variety of parameters. You can pick the place, choose the size of the bomb, set a viewing location, and even animate the growth of the mushroom cloud. You can also plot the fallout based on wind speed and direction, and estimate the number of casualties."

News article came out couple of days ago on the 3D version because yesterday was the anniversary of the first Bikini Atoll test. You might have to wait a minute for it to load, server running slow, guess a lot of people playing with it.

I wonder how many people are getting their names added to "the list" for hitting the detonate button?

Mine is on there for sure (probably multiple countries' list actually).
This is a fun little app. If you don't want to blow up the world, you can zoom out, click and drag quickly to the side, release; and spin the "digital globe" just like I used to with the real globe in school. Edited by npgunner
