know of any companies that make good ones?

Lancaster's customer service sucks.

Firing Line makes good ones.

CNC Warrior makes good ones.

Any More?

Not sure if nodakspud.com stamps or mills, but it might be worth an email to find out.  I've seen positive reviews of other products they make.

I'm not sure of where you could buy  a milled receiver by itself and most magazine and trade periodical columnists i.e., Shotgun News , Gun List (now published as Gun Digest) concluded that the stamped receivers were more durable and no less accurate. Don't know if K-var is still in business or not , their products were always well thought through and very rugged.

Yes, K-Var is still in business. They only have some of the worst prices and the highest prices on shipping I have ever seen.
