Dunno... There is just something about 00 buckshot that just seems to spell doom for zombies.

*shrugs* Given my hardware, I am sticking with my M1A SOCOM .

The key, here, is to not live in an area which might produce a large number of zombies... folks in urban areas are just screwed, I don't care what you're armed with, you won't have enough ammo or be able to fire it fast enough. The idea is to remove as much tissue from the attacker as possible. Screw hitting the CNS with a .224" bullet... I want to destroy a knee or hip so they can't run after me, or I want to nearly remove the whole head, because who cares if they're still flopping if they have nothing to see or bite with... Fire rate? Get a semi-auto. Capacity? You're choosing your battles poorly... avoid contact and get out of the blast zone (since the contaminated zone is sure-as-hell getting nuked).

Me? The last shell I can manage onto the carrier is sending its load through my cerebellum anyways. Screw it.

...then again, who knows, maybe it'd be fun to eat brains... hmmmm...

Naw, just do me a favor if that happens. No need to bother saying to me 'I told you so'.

You guys don't seem to know anything about zombies.

You just need a decent shot to forehead to disrupt brain; you don't really need to blow them apart or anything drastic.

Really, a .22 semi-auto or pump will suffice.

Maybe one of those Kel-Tec .22 jobbies if you want lots of capacity.

A backup pistol to fend them off while you reload. Hopefully, you have buddy with you, one shoots and one reloads.
