Big web attack going on

Got an CNet alert that Apple was under attack and thier developers site is shut down, ipage (Host I use) is also, they cant use their system tools, just checked down right now and Twitter and youtube are both down.

 

BTW, you can still get to those sites, its their tech departments that are under attack.

 

 

 

You tube back. Netflix and live journal down.

 

 

Interesting, wonder who's going after these big sites.

My guess is they're going after dns which would make any specific company's security irrelevant. Haven't read anything on it yet though, will in the morning.

Most all of Network Solutions shared hosting was down off and on for 24 hours a day or two ago, not sure about the static IP stuff.

 

It was all DNS related, not like servers were taken over, though. Dunno if related.

Seems this is Apples 2nd attack in less than a week. But yesterday, when gunsamerica was down and I took a look at the down sites, Apple development was down with the same notice as in this article from a couple of days ago.

Same time of Apple attack on the 21st, Ubuntu came under attack and shut down their forums

 

Unfortunately the attackers have gotten every user's local username, password, and email address from the Ubuntu Forums database

I just got an email from Twitter saying they reset my password and it will have to be changed at the next logon. Not sure if they were compromised or just being cautious...
