Holy mother of agenda...."For those who know the dangers of guns but still keep a gun in the house". That reads like an insult to me. "If you're an idiot follow these steps.

Remembering back when I was little, there were guns in just about every room. I'm very confident they were all loaded. Did I ever touch one without my parents? He'll no! They would have beat my a$$ and I knew it. Neither did any of my 5 other siblings! The only fault I can see today is the parents lack of educating their kids, by respecting the guns AND my parents, all of us made it just fine...

What the flyer says:

Child Safety 5-6 years

**Remember, the biggest threat to your child's life and health is an injury**

• Car safety: Your child needs to be in a car seat, in the back seat every time he/she is in the car. A booster seat is not recommended until your child is at least 4 years old, 40 pounds, and can sit correctly in the seat for the entire car ride.

• Head injuries can be very dangerous. Be sure your child wears a bike helmet whenever he/she rides their bike!

• Supervision is still important - particularly when outside.

• We recommend being sure you have working smoke detectors at least on every level of your home. Also, be sure that your hot water heater is set to no more than 120 degrees. Have a fire plan for your family and practice it with your child.

• Second-hand smoke is dangerous for your child. If you want advice on how to limit your child's exposure - please ask his/her pediatrician.

• Even though your child is now old enough to take a shower or bath by themselves, they still need supervision - especially near a pool, lake, or river.

• It is best to keep all guns out of your home. But, if do you own a gun - be sure it is locked up and unloaded. Any child can be hurt or killed by a gun.

• Remember sun protection = hats and sunscreen when 'outside (and don't forget to reapply!).

• You should be talking with your child about stranger safety as well as good touch and bad touch.

• Even children this young are on the Internet - via computer or game console. Be sure your child is closely supervised and you are aware of what sites they are on.

You can find more safety and other information at: www.healthychildren.org

Not just the gun thing, but what the hell does any of that garbage have to do with school?

the flyer was from Stoner Creek Elementary in Mt. Juliet.  If you copy what I posted above to a plain sheet of white paper, no heading, no footer,  no names, phone numbers,  no signature, you'll have the flyer.  I have already sent a copy via email to Mae Beavers and Worriedman. I talked with Mae and she said she would address it with a member of the school board. Hard to identify the person(s) responsible if no one puts his/her name on the document.

I'll bet money they figure it out real fast.

The flyer's content is just one incremental step in the NEA's ultimate dream-- total state indoctrination:

The public education system is so broken that it's almost beyond repair at this point. Although we are dealing with far leftists instead of extreme rightists (true fascism), the end result is the same...

Who is the Representative for Mt. Juliet

Susan Lynn.  But this is a local matter.

I would recommend that the school principal be contacted first.

If that doesn't work, then the school superintendent.

Then the school board member that covers that school.

Then the School Board Chairman.

Then the county commissioner.

Then the county mayor.

THEN if none of those help - State Representative Susan Lynn.

Agreed, up the ladder we go...

I disagree, contact them all right away and often until somebody gets fired.  Putting pressure on all politicians that can do something about it will result in something happening much faster than working your way up the chain.  Make the phone explode to everybody on that list all at once and they will be move motivated to move quickly and less likely to come up with a game plan to 'deal' with the annoying callers.

I personally know 2 board members. I believe both would think someone is a jackass for sending out this paper.

I've lived in MJ for 35 of 36 years (had a Lebanon address for a year in like 1999) My opinion is this is just the degradation of Mt. Juliet by the massive influx of yankees and yuppie vaginas.

But yeah someone oughta have to catch some hell for this so they don't send this crap out again.

Agree.

Sometimes I want to tell the move-ins that those old front license plates from California, New York, New Jersey, etc., etc., just aren't funny anymore.

I especially dislike those Pittsburgh Steelers bumper stickers!  :yuck:

I fear that West Wilson County could become the next Colorado.

This stuff usually comes from the School Boards in the area, along with some crap from the Teacher's union.

They are always testing the water. That web site from the Academy of Pediatricians represents the group most

likely to be benefitting most from Obamacare: younger you are, the more you will benefit. Us old folks aren't

worth the money spent, the way O'Care envisions healthcare, hence the death panel as one person called it,

and correctly, I might add.

If you wish to stop this stuff, you have to get several people fired and the teacher's union thrown out of Tennessee.

That's a reasonable and worthy goal. The School Boards look to the Dept of Education for funding, school

teaching guidelines and everything else political that gets thrown at the wall behind our kids. Then we will have

to get the Dept of Education abolished. That will be more difficult.

Already Done.

The Teacher's Union in Tennessee lost its collective bargaining power in Tennessee a couple of years ago.  Therefore what is left of the union is really a non-player today.

In fact the union never really represented the vast majority of teachers in this right-to-work state.  Its biggest membership was teachers AND administrators in the Metro Nashville & Memphis city school systems.

Teachers aren't the problem - - - even if that is what the politicians want you to believe.

I wasn't saying the teachers themselves were ever the problem, but the union. It still has considerable influence,

regardless of the membership. and the political influence going by which party influences the administrations in

their respective locales. Most are decidedly liberal. Look at the curricula our kids are being taught to see that.

It gets worse every year and it is coming down from above.
