Noob reporting in from Kansas

Hey all, I live in Kansas but have family near Coppertown and I’ll be visiting them at the end of the month for a few days.  I’ve done a quick review of your conceal carry laws as I carry wherever I go when I can.  I plan to also bring a suppressed 22 pistol so we can have a little quiet time too, will be flying Delta to Atlanta and my brother will be providing transportation from there.  One question I do have, does Tennessee have a requirement to disclose your status upon contact with LEO?  Kansas requires it only if asked, Oklahoma requires disclosure upon initial contact.  Not saying I plan to do anything to have contact, just want to make sure I’m in full compliance.

Thanks in advance!

No.  You are not legally required to inform an officer that you are carrying on contact.  If they ask, though, you have to tell them.

That said, I've happened across some LEOs that don't know the law and will give you a lecture about it on the side of the road.  Just smile and nod.

LEO here can take it from you during the stop if they choose, at their discretion. It's returned when the stop is done so long as you're not in the back seat of their car when it's all over

Sounds like you'll be coming through GA also. Here's a link to the GA equivalent of this forum: http://www.georgiapacking.org/law.php

That link is actually that forum's gun law page but you can link to discussion from the links at the top. Edited by npgunner

Thanks for the informative responses.  GA doesn’t recognize KS but I’ve got that covered with my Utah permit.  From what I remember of some of the LEO in the hills, some of them tend to have a 14 karat a$$hole attitude.  I can imagine them disarming someone on the side of the road during a stop.

What about automatic knifes, the out the front type?  My brother and I will be doing a little beer drinking and I know that is a big no no in Tennessee and of course as a firearms owner overall.  For those few times I’ll need to fall back on a blade.
