Stevie Wonder won't sing in any state with stand your ground laws

Recommended Posts

I feel better knowing the news networks will have one more thing to use, to drag out this side-show. I was worried they'd go bankrupt...

That's a shame. I like Stevie Wonder and would definetly pay good money to see his show live, guess that's not happening anytime soon. It's a damn shame that so many in the performance industry decide to get so politically involved that they won't perform for their fans based on how they feel about issues unrelated to music. Now don't get me wrong if I were a touring musician I wouldn't be playing any KKK rallies or anything else I thought was morally offensive either. I guess it just takes a bit more to actually upset me. The Nuge still performs in Cali, of all people he is able to put aside politics and put on a show for his fans, I think that's classy.

I'm also reminded of the stand that Ray Charles and others took during the civil rights era refusing to play in state that had Jim Crow laws. That was something I could get behind, this just seems stupid.

If he want's to take what I consider to be an idiotic stand I can respect him for that even if I think it's idiotic.

I really do like Stevie as an entertainer but you know, I've never seen him in person and probably wouldn't go to a concert anyway (not because I don't like him but he's just not one I'd go to see).

Besides (for those old enough to remember); there's always Memorex

Stevie is a talented man. One of the finest of his era and genre. I don't do concerts. Free tickets couldn't even drag me outa the house, for any act. Though I still will play music in public on rare occasions.

Real dedication would be a hunger strike.
