Asiana pilots names

The fact that so many people at that TV station were stupid enough to broadcast that tells me the FCC needs to review the status of their license.  While I found it hilarious, I hope the airline shuts them down.

I just now read where the airline is filing a law suit against the news station!

Yeah, that lawsuit will be very difficult. From what I have heard, they did get the names from the NTSB and they are blaming it on some summer intern. So the TV station was reporting what the got from the NTSB. Although, the people at the news station need to be fired because that was def bullshit. I wouldn't have made it through the first name without laughing.....

Just demonstrates the concept of the "talking head". Under normal circumstances, you would think damages would be hard to prove. It IS Kalifornia.

The FCC certainly isn't going to revoke their license over that. In fact, they didn't break any FCC rules. The FCC isn't the PC police.

True.  That's all protected by the 1st Amendment.

As said above, I started laughing when I saw the names on the screen, even before she starts talking.

Someone created the graphic.  Someone else typed it in the teleprompter.  There should have been several people in the booth reviewing both of those prior to broadcasting.  The broadcast is supposed to be delayed a few seconds so they can shut it down if something goes wrong.  I refuse to believe there's that many people in one place that are so naive as to not "get" that.  So either they did it on purpose or they're utterly incompetent.  Again, I found it hilarious, but they deserve whatever they get for being that stupid.

I didn't know that a delay was required on a live TV set. I'm not a TV guy. We delay our audio in radio so we can trap profanity from guests and callers. No doubt that this got past some folks at the TV station. What amazes me more is the response from the feds. A summer intern did it, but he really didn't do it. We don't know who really did it. They don't even try to hide their incompetence any more.

There is not a requirement to delay anything.

Don't know that it's a regulation, but a delay sure seems like a good idea (just like radio).  Just gives folks a couple seconds to react if something goes wrong.

It doesn't matter who started it.  Everyone who touched it between the source and airing it on live TV was in on it.  I'm regularly amazed by the stupidity of people, but I just don't believe this really got past all those people.

I saw the YouTube video for the first time today at work on a buddy's iPhone. That really cracked me up. No way did that woman have a clue what she was reading. If she did she would have never have gotten through it with that straight of a face. She was kinda dense though not to pick up on it I suppose...lol

It's beyond spraying coffee on a monitor from laughing..I do have sympathy for those who passed but I just can't believe that any professional entity would allow this to sneak through.someone had to type it up so why was it missed??
